Clairo released her third studio album, Charm, back in 2024. The singer talked about the album in an exclusive interview with Seventeen on April 7, 2025:

"I didn’t know what confidence felt like until the alchemy of getting older and Charm happened to me. I’m wiser and a little more hip to what makes me me. All the exploration I’d done until then was necessary, and it’s wild that it’s all out there for anyone to see. I feel like I’ve arrived at a major turning point."

She later talked about performing songs from her debut album, Immunity, on her 2024 tour, stating:

"It feels good because I’m starting to understand more. When I’m making something, I’ll have a general idea of what I want to talk about and explore. It’s nice having three records that feel like certain moments in my life. I was 20 years old when I made Immunity, and then I got existential and made this second record -"

The singer continued:

"-where I was so scared of things that the girl on the third album wasn’t even thinking about. Especially with “Sofia” recently, I feel like I’ve squashed all the beef I have with some of my past songs because people have their own connection to them. So what’s the point of not acknowledging them?"

Clairo also talked about what she wanted in the future:

"I’m finally seeing the other side of what it looks like when older people in your life are like, “Just wait until college or you’re a 20-something doing God knows what.” Not giving up was big for me, and now I’m reframing my negative feelings in other ways because the only thing stopping me is myself. It’s cool to see that everything I want is within me."

The singer has had success with her new album, with it charting in the top 10 spots on major charts, being the first of her records to do so. The album is also her first new album since 2021's Sling.
