KISS recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of their album Dressed to Kill
KISS recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of their album, Dressed to Kill, with the release of an audio walking tour, available via the official website of the band. The tour, which features narration by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons besides original photographer Bob Gruen, started on March 22, 2025. The tour features giveaways including T-shirts among other goods for fans.
Dressed to Kill, the band's third studio album, was released on March 19, 1975. Released via Casablanca Records, it is their shortest studio album.
KISS started announcing their plans to retire from touring in 2021, with Paul Stanley stating to Ultimate Classic Rock on October 6, 2021:
"I believe strongly by the beginning of 2023 we will be finished. It's a different time than we had pondered [farewell tours] in the past. The fact is that, physically, it's incredibly demanding to do what we do. Look, we played [recently] in Austin, an outdoor show, 100 percent humidity."
The singer continued:
"We're running around for two-plus hours, not only with guitars, but I've got 30-plus pounds of gear on. There's a point where you go, 'You know what? This is more challenge than I want. There's really no thought about changing our minds."
He added:
"It has nothing to do with personalities in the band or tensions or a difference of opinion or musicality. It's purely practical. You can play beat the clock, but ultimately the clock wins."
Gene Simmons later also talked about retirement during his appearance on KLOS' Whiplash in 2022, stating:
"The reason for stopping touring is because of pride and self-respect and a love and admiration for the fans. The last thing you wanna be is to be a world-champion boxer and stay in the ring too long. It's only a matter of time until your legs are not gonna be able to hold you up, and you're gonna lose."
KISS last toured with the End of the Road World Tour, which ran from 2019 to 2023. The tour featured numerous opening acts, including David Garibaldi, The Last Internationale, Mammoth WVH and Eagles of Death Metal, among others.
The tour featured songs from the band's catalog, including Destroyer, Dynasty, Dressed to Kill and Alive II, among others, with a setlist featuring a total of 20 tracks, depending upon the show.
KISS released their last studio album, Monster, on October 9, 2012. The album was released via Universal Records. The album was highly successful on the charts, peaking within top 10 positions on charts such as Australia, US Billboard 200, and the UK album chart.
