Xiumin, the South Korean singer and actor, recently claimed that it would be difficult for him to join the Music Bank, a South Korean music program run by the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), due to his dispute with SM Entertainment. Xiumin worked as a trainee with SM Entertainment before joining INB100.
Xiumin's current agency, INB100, also known as One Hundred, also stated on March 4 that Xiumin wants to attend the show, but KBS has not been responding to their messages. According to INB100, KBS also 'unofficially' told the agency that they can't include Xiumin as of now due to the presence of SM Entertainment's singers on the KBS Music Bank show, which might cause conflicts.
They added that in situations where SM Entertainment is involved, INB100's artists won’t be able to appear on music shows, which they called "unfair."
In its statement, INB100 described Xiumin's appearance on Music Bank as 'impossible.'
KBS responds to INB100’s claims, denying the ban on Xiumin from Music Bank
Soon after INB100 released its statement regarding Xiumin and KBS, KBS responded, denying all the allegations against them.
The representative from the KBS told the fans:
"The claim that KBS informed Xiumin he was not allowed to appear on Music Bank is not true. We have been in ongoing communication with his agency."
KBS’s statement denying INB100’s claims leads to speculation that there might have been a miscommunication or behind-the-scenes influence regarding Xiumin’s appearance on Music Bank.
KBS insists that they never banned him, the claims are "not true," and they were in regular contact with his agency. The statement by INB100 suggests the opposite, raising questions about whether external factors, like SM Entertainment, played a role in Xiumin's appearance on the show.
Many fans are now wondering whether Xiumin’s exclusion from the Music Bank was purely coincidental or if it was done intentionally. However, there's no clear statement made by any of the parties yet as to whether Xiumin will be a part of KBS's Music Bank or not.
According to the INB100 statement, the artist wants to be a part of the show and deliver the best performance to his fans. However, KBS has yet to confirm his participation in the show.
INB100 also said that Xiumin will soon release his new album on March 10, after a gap of two years and six months. He hopes to present his new music on KBS's Music Bank.
Xiumin is an ambassador of the Korea Football Association and has done the soundtrack for the famous series Mr. Queen. With more than 500k monthly listeners, his famous songs include For You, The Last Christmas, and Brand New. Currently, he is a part of the boy band EXO.
