LE SSERAFIM has been hit with numerous accusations of plagiarism over the short span of years since they debuted. The accusations started after the release of their first studio album UNFORGIVEN in 2023. Moving on to 2025, three days ago on February 20, LE SSERAFIM released a teaser clip of their latest music video titled Born Fire on their official Instagram account.
As expected, LE SSERAFIM fans expressed their excitement in the comment section, eagerly anticipating the album's release on March 14, 2025. However, netizens on X had something different to say regarding the teaser clip LE SSERAFIM released.
On X, a fan account going by the username @baejeanies has posted a detailed list of sources LE SSERAFIM have "plagiarised" from. In response to this post, a LE SSERAFIM fan commented,
"speeding the clips up, slowing some parts down, cutting and chopping the trailer up to get this 2 second montage… that’s not plagiarism. and for this whole list. just because two songs are similar doesn’t mean it’s plagarism. there has been no legal action" - @notlkellnqs stated.
Fans debate whether LE SSERAFIM's latest album trailer is plagiarized or not
The X post uploaded by @baejeanies shows a side-by-side comparison of the edited trailer and a clip from Mugler's Alien Hypersense film that starred Anok Yai. There resemblances of the concepts between the two clips are eerily similar. Keep reading if you want to see what fans and netizens think of these plagiarism accusations against LE SSERAFIM.
Here are a few users who believe that LE SSERAFIM has indeed copied from other artists and groups:
One user wrote,
"The list not gonna be end😂 " - @ollaolla96 implied that there were more artists they copied from.
Another X user did not say much but just three words. The comment reads,
"COPY PASTE LITERALLY!!!!" - @mathdrgy stated.
A netizen also commented how they are waiting for the album to release so they can spot more plagiarized content. They said,
"The way this list will most likely extend once that generic ass music of theirs is released 😭🤣 " - @Aaliyahdabrattt stated.
On the other side of the discussion are the LE SSERAFIM fans trying to defend their idols. Have a look at some of these comments:
One user who is a fan of both LE SSERAFIM and Rosalia said,
"As a rosalia fan Linda and Chicken Teriyaki sound nothing like those songs yall need to be fr for one second" - @chiki_chiri commented.
Fans also defended the girls saying that it is their agency to blame and not them. They wrote,
"don’t blame lsf, blame hybe and their unoriginality pls" @haerinsavacados chimed in.
"Hybes plagiarism*" - @medowpines added.
While many are of the opinion that LE SSERAFIM's songs have been imitated by other singers and artists, there are also fans who defined the K-pop girl band saying the accusations are wrong. LE SSERAFIM has yet to comment on these accusations.
