During a live rendition of the 2018 song 'Corporation' in Boston, rock musician Jack White took direct shots at U.S. President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk. He altered the lyrics to call them out over their 'role' in American politics.

The incident took place on February 18, 2025, at Boston’s Roadrunner. However, only recently has it gained traction online, as footage of Jack White's performance began circulating. Take a look at the snippet below:

The singer changed the song’s original opening line, which is:

"I’m thinking about starting a corporation. Who’s with me?"

To this:

"I was thinking about becoming an oligarch. Who’s with me?"

Thus, Jack's altered lyrics delivered pointed jabs at Elon Musk's government subsidies, Trump's business projects, and their roles in shaping U.S. policy, Billboard reports. It should be noted that this is not the first time the rock musician has spoken out against Trump or Musk.

White has previously criticized Trump's presidency. Moreover, he filed a lawsuit against his campaign over unauthorized music use and quit X (formerly Twitter) after Elon Musk's takeover.

In August 2024, Occupy Democrats took to its official X handle to share

"BREAKING: Music legend Jack White gives a "double f*ck you" to Donald Trump and his "fascists" after they use music from his band The White Stripes without permission — and announces a lawsuit against them. And White was just getting started: "Oh….Don’t even think about using my music you fascists," White wrote on Instagram after a Trump aide posted a clip featuring the White Stripes' hit song "Seven Nation Army.""

Now, with his ongoing 'No Name' tour, he is taking his views to the stage. The Boston performance clip could be an example of that.

Who is Jack White?

Jack White is known among fans for his work with The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and The Dead Weather. He became one of the defining figures of the early 2000s garage rock revival, believed by many.

His solo works include 'Boarding House Reach' (2018). It is the album that featured 'Corporation.'

Jack White is also a cultural critic, reports claim. Whether it’s through his lyrics, social media posts, or public statements, he has voiced his opinions on U.S. politics multiple times.

In the past, he has labeled Donald Trump as a wannabe dictator and a fascist. He sold 'Icky Trump' T-shirts as a play on The White Stripes’ song Icky Thump during the 2016 election, Billboard reports.

The 'Corporation' performance

At the Boston concert, Jack White first aimed at Elon Musk, singing:

"I was thinking about taking government subsidies and starting my own electric car company. Who’s with me?"

He then continued:

"I’m thinking about not being elected. Never holding a public office. Never serving one day of military service. But somehow having the authority to control parts of the U.S. Government. Who’s with me?"

Later, he targeted Trump. Per Billboard, he sang,

"I’m thinking about not being properly vetted by the Supreme Court or Congress, just doing whatever the hell I want because some fing bloated a**hole orange fing gorilla who’s failed at every business he’s ever ran wants me to be his golf cart partner!"

For many, the performance became a political statement.

After Donald Trump’s 2024 election win, Jack White posted a statement, calling it “dumbfounding” that Americans had re-elected someone he described as a con man, reports claim.

Last year, he sued Trump’s campaign for unauthorized use of Seven Nation Army in a campaign video. The lawsuit was later dropped.
