On Saturday, March 22, 2025, Selena Gomez took to her official Instagram to announce the release of her long-lost song, Stained. Selena recorded Stained eight years ago during the sessions for her 2015 album, Revival.

She captioned the Instagram announcement as follows:

"Eight years later, and you guys never forgot about this song. Your love for 'Stained' has never gone away, and I wanted to do something special to say thank you for all the love and support on the album. 'Stained' is now available exclusively on my official store for a limited time only. #Stained."

@PopCrave on X, formerly Twitter, shared the announcement and captioned the post:

Several reactions trailed the post as netizens took to the comments section to express their excitement about the release.

@Bru3Tweets commented.

"Bro, we really waited 8 years for Stained to finally drop. This is our Renaissance, our 1989 (TV), our Jolene. Selena really said, "Fine, here's your crumb," and it's a feast."

Similar comments echoed this sentiment as Selenators praised the song.

"Selena Gomez's Stained is pure magic," @goodhomes commented.
"Selena never misses. This one's a masterpiece." @jubair_afsar tweeted.
"Selena Gomez releasing 'stained' is a moment. This is the song of the year already." @SheKnowsScience added.

Other Selenators praised the creativity and the artwork of the bonus track.

"Sis titled the bonus track 'Stained' and made sure the artwork was on theme! It's giving coffee spill realness." @AvaTlovenotes stated.
"That cover art really has a raw, artistic vibe to it- totally fitting for a song titled "Stained"! What's your take on the overall aesthetic?" @renexxb commented.
"I was wiping my screen thinking the stain's on my phone." @TayoPSG added.

Stained was leaked in 2016 but didn't get an official release until 2025.
