Selena Gomez posted a video on Instagram earlier this week hinting at a new music release. To the surprise of many fans, the star officially announced that she would be releasing a new album with her fiancé titled "I Said I Love You First." This announcement came with the release of the album's lead single, "Scared of Loving You."
Selena Gomez announced via Instagram:
"I always trick you guys; my NEW album, I Said I Love You First, with my best friend @bennyblanco, is out on 3/21. Our first song, Scared of Loving You, is out now on all streaming platforms. Merchandise and signed products for the album are available for pre-order now. We can't wait to share this special project with you soon!"
On February 20, 2025, Selena and her partner dropped a new song, a collaboration with Gracie Abrams titled "Call Me When You Break Up." The song serves as the second single from the upcoming album, which is scheduled to be released on March 21, 2025.
More details on Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco's new song with Gracie Abrams
The Rare Beauty mogul, along with Blanco and Abrams, spoke with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 about the new single, Call Me When You Break Up.
Selena Gomez opened up, saying she felt it was meant to be.
"It just felt like it was a little taste of what we are and how we made this together, and how much we loved it and how much we love each other. And it just felt like it was meant to be," Selena said.
Gracie Abrams responded when asked how she felt about making a song with Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco.
"I mean, I'm just the biggest fan of both Selena and Benny and really have been forever, like, for as long as I've cared for music, both of their work has been a part of my life."
The That's So True crooner continued:
"So anything that they want from me is a yes forever. And I just felt really grateful for the opportunity. And also just the song was immediately so stuck in my head as soon as I heard it for the first time. And, of course, the opportunity to write my verse on it just happened so quickly, which I think is such a testament to how addicting the song is, I think."
Benny Blanco chipped in:
"I feel everyone's been somewhere, and it's like that moment when you have to give yourself up to someone, and you are a little scared."
He continued:
"You know Selena more than anybody else; you know she's had such a journey in life both personally, medically, and so many other things. She makes you just believe it. She's like, 'I'm not scared of dying young or anyone,' but she's scared of the fact of losing someone that she's finally created a bond with where she feels comfortable enough. And somehow, by God's grace, I happen to be that person. I have no idea why, but I am."
Ending the chat with Lowe, all three artists gave a shout-out to Phineas, who helped with the song.
This project marks Selena Gomez's first full album since her 2020 release of Rare.
