Ariana Grande released the deluxe edition of her positively received 2024 album, Eternal Sunshine: Brighter Days Ahead, on March 28, 2025. The album was made available to the public via download and streaming, two vinyl LP variants and two CD variants.
The digital version of the album contained the thirteen standard tracks of the original album and six bonus tracks, while the physical copies, in addition to the standard and bonus tracks, included the remix versions of the pre-release tracks Yes, And?, Supernatural, and The Boy Is Mine.
The bonus tracks on Ariana Grande's deluxe album include Intro (End of the World), Twilight Zone, Warm, Dandelion, Past Life, and Hampstead. After the album's release, Arianators expressed their love for the bonus tracks, taking their time to dissect some of them, including the song Hampstead.
Following its release, the lyrics of Hampstead have been circulating widely on the internet, with fans reading deeper meaning into them. Speculation is rife about whether the song was about the 7 Rings crooner's divorce from ex-husband Dalton Gomez.
"Ariana Grande's 'Hampstead' is a raw breakup banger, dumping Dalton Gomez and her old life in one go. Love her or even hate her, she's spilling tea and moving on. America's pop queen doesn't mess around. Those lines are maadd," @banderahs on X commented.
"Ariana's pen is always sharp, but this line hits on another level. It's a powerful statement on reclaiming your own narrative and choosing self-preservation over someone else's perception." @pjweb3 on X tweeted.
"I don't know if anyone has pointed out how interesting the coloring and picture she picked for Hampstead. It looks like she's reflecting back on her Positions era and closing that door. Hampstead reflects the most with POV on Positions. Ariane Grande YOUR MIND," @elektra_deus on X stated.
"The parallel to pov and her wanting to know her partners view of herself, to getting that perspective and asking if she's in the right relationship in intro, to fully comprehending and growing from that perspective in hampstead… oh ariana you're a genius!" @jensmcrgan added.
Fans claimed that the song also hinted at her romance with Wicked actor Ethan Slater when he lived in Hampstead, a residential district in London, during the filming of the Wicked Movie.
More details in Ariana Grande's Hampstead track
Hampstead was released as the nineteenth and last track of Ariana Grande's Eternal Sunshine Deluxe album. The emotional ballad is classified as an Orchestra, Piano, Classical Crossover, and Soul ballad.
It was first teased at the Shut Up Evan podcast, where Ariana Grande appeared on the July 9 episode. The Thank You, Next crooner revealed in the podcast that Hampstead is one of the favorite songs she has ever written.
Hampstead is a track centered on self-discovery, self-preservation, growth, and moving on from a past relationship. A part of the first verse reads:
"I left my heart at a pub in Hampstead
And I misplaced my mind in a good way
Threw away my reputation, but saved us more heartache
Yes, I know it seems fucked up and you're right, but quite frankly
You're still wrong about everything."
