This reported tracklist went on to generate reactions on the internet, with a mix of negative and confused reactions, such as the one quoted below:
"If he’s not dropping “Happy”, then keep it."
Some netizens questioned the list, with many pointing out that the tracklist given in the report was part of a different album released years ago, while others thought positively about Donda 2. A few also asked the singer to release a different album instead:
"Oh so Ye actually listened to the backlash of us stating DONDA was his last great album and now he’s going back to the drawing board. Oh ok. Following up on Donda will be hard, let’s see." one netizen stated.
"With all due respect….tell him to keep Donda 2 and release Yandhi. Yandhi would be a top 5 Kanye album, top 3 sonically" another netizen stated.
"Didn’t this already get dropped if you bought that stem player he sold." one commenter reacted.
"baby keem coming out of retirement with we did it kid." another commenter opined.
Kanye West released the first Donda album back in 2021
Kanye West released the first Donda album back in 2021. The album was his last solo album before he embarked on the Vultures series of albums. Donda was fairly successful upon release, despite the controversy surrounding its release, with West claiming the Universal Music label released the album without the singer's approval.
The album was dedicated to the singer's late mother, Donda West, and featured a mix of themes of Christian faith, relationship estrangement, and more. The album was followed by the aforementioned Stem Player customizable song list, played on the titular streaming device.
Prior to the release of the album, Kanye West talked about his Christian faith in an exclusive interview with podcaster Joe Rogan on The Joe Rogan Experience:
“When I made Sunday Service, I completely stopped rapping, because I don’t know how to rap for God. All my raps always had nasty jokes. When I went to the hospital in 2016, I wrote, ‘Started church in Calabasas.’ As we left from 2018 going into 2019, I said, ;I’m not going to let one Sunday go by without starting this church -"
Kanye West later added:
"I wasn’t saved, I just had a calling, saying, ‘Just go make this church.'” “God knocked me off my horse, literally called me and said, ‘Now I need you.’ Not that God needs me, but we need God. He called me to serve him. I was tired of serving the music industry, tired of serving filling up stadiums.”
Kanye West released his latest collaborative studio album, Vultures 2, in 2024. The singer is also set to release a new collaborative album with Dave Blunts, titled Cuck, sometime in 2025. The album will be the first collaborative project with Dave Blunts by West.
