Tory Lanez released his latest album, Peterson, on March 7, 2025. Even though the rapper is currently incarcerated for the shooting of star rapper Megan Thee Stallion, Tory Lanez hasn't stopped making music or, as it seems, rekindling old romance.

The singer's newly released album shows that Lanez is currently doing a lot of self-examination. It expresses Tory's thoughts on his current incarceration and his industry relationships.

The sixth track on Peterson has caused a stir, sparking speculations on whether the song is about Australian singer Iggy Azalea. The song, 9$ide x Amethyst, fondly recollects his past relationship with the singer, whose real name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly. According to a report by XXL magazine, the two artists were rumored to have dated back in 2022.

In the track, Tory Lanez pleads with a woman named Amethyst to give him a second chance.

"It be nights I want to talk to Iggy, but she blocked me / Amethyst, if you ever hear this shit, shawty, call me / You know that I'm always makin' spicy b*tches salty / Need to come correct 'cause all that sh*t I did was faulty / I miss when you wrapped around my body like a tall tee," Tory raps.

He says in the chorus of the song:

"Amethyst, if you still free, shawty, let me know / Let me pick up where we left off, shawty, I'll be yours / Amethyst, if you still down, let me know / 'Cause I got plans of f*cking you when I get home."

Iggy Azalea pens a letter to the judge during Tory Lanez's legal battle

During his legal battle with the Savage star, Megan Thee Stallion, Iggy Azalea was among those who wrote a letter to the judge requesting leniency. Iggy's action deepened the suspicion of a past relationship between them, something that Tory Lanez's recent song further heightened.

Azalea's letter showed her vouching for Tory Lanez's character.

"I deeply appreciate the person he is and have never witnessed him [lose] his temper or raise his voice at a woman. He's always been incredibly respectful of me, and I refuse to believe that he would do anything in malice, especially to a woman."

She continued:

"I hope you'll consider a sentence that allows for this to be transformational and not life-destroying. Not only for Daystar – but for his family, son, and the countless others who depend on him & are committed to helping him reach his full potential."

Tory Lanez's Peterson album is the sequel to his 2020 Daystar album. It is the rapper's eighth studio album and, just like Daystar, it has its title taken from Lanez's legal name, Daystar Peterson.

Peterson was first teased in July 2024, but it was not until March 2025 that Tory officially announced the album's release date, title, and artwork via his official social media accounts.

"Dear 2025 … This COMEBACK is PERSONAL. ALBUM NAME – PETERSON. SEQUEL OF – DAYSTAR. FRIDAY!”

Peterson contains twenty tracks and is available on all streaming platforms.
