A$AP Rocky recently appeared on Vogue's Life in Looks segment, where the rapper gave his take on his twenty-one looks. When talking about his 2023 Met Gala look, the interviewer talked about the Met Gala barricade moment, to which Rakim Athelaston Mayers laughed and replied,

"I was gonna be late for the Met Gala. I was trying to get in my room, and this poor, young little lady, man, I didn't even know that I messed up her glasses. To whoever that young lady was, again, I apologize. I'm so sorry. I ain't mean to do that, sweetheart. My fault."

The incident took place in 2023 when A$AP Rocky's Met Gala clip went viral. In the clip, Rocky was seen jumping over the fence to get in the hotel. According to Rocky, he was running late for the show, which made him take the step.

While doing so, he accidentally kept his hands on a woman's shoulder for support. At that moment, he unintentionally knocked off her glasses. Later, the person, identified as Madelyn Llanes, posted a selfie on X, saying,

“A$AP Rocky just literally jumped over me.”

Rocky didn't take the time to apologize to her on X by replying,

"LOL MY FAULT $WEETHEART.”

Fans loved Rocky’s candid and lighthearted acknowledgment of the moment, even two years later.

A$AP Rocky talks about his Met Gala 2023 moment

The theme of the 2023 Met Gala was Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, which paid tribute to the late designer's legacy. For the event, Rocky went in an all-Gucci outfit, pairing a black blazer with a white collared shirt and blue studded baggy jeans.

He also wore a red plaid Gucci outfit made up of a black blazer, a white collared shirt, and a red plaid kilt, which had a high-low design to complete his outfit. The singer joined the event with Rihanna, who was dressed in a Maison Valentino white gown.

A$AP Rocky showed love for Lagerfeld's style by saying,

"I liked his (Karl Lagerfeld's) elegance. And sometimes I just embodying that spirit. It's just paying homage to his look at one of the shows. that he did. We kind of wanted to exaggerate the kilt a little bit so it could feel more grand."

He further continues,

"This outfit, it's a lot going on, but it's actually well put together, yo. This is dope. This is when over-accessorizing goes right. This is how you do it."
