"I actually still feel p*ssed" — Chappell Roan says her song 'My Kink Is Karma' prevents her from getting over a break-up

Chappell Roan recently appeared on the Las Culturistas podcast on the iHeart Radio YouTube channel. During the interview, she talked about the song My Kink Is Karma, stating how the song prevents her from getting over a breakup, stating to the two hosts:

"You have to lock into different characters for each song. Especially like My Kink Is Karma, I'm less worried about hitting the notes rather than just screaming as hard as I can. I actually still feel p**sed. I don't know if I'll ever get over it. I don't know if I'll ever not be mad."

My Kink Is Karma is a song from the singer's debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which was released on May 6, 2022. The song is about an angry person who is glad to hear of their ex's misfortunes.

Chappell Roan released her latest song, The Giver, on March 13, 2025. The song is her first release of 2025, and the singer talked about the song in the aforementioned interview, stating why she cut out the bridge she used in SNL.

"I said the wrong thing on SNL. I was supposed to say something else. I got nervous and fu***d up the wording. I’ve been banging my head against the wall with ‘The Subway’ because songs can work live, certain things can work live, and they do not work in the studio."

In another interview with Kelleigh Bannen on Apple Music Country in March 2025, Chappell Roan also stated that the song was essentially a lesbian country love song and wondered how listeners would react to it:

“I wonder if people are going to revolt against me making a very clearly lesbian song, where I poke fun at country boys… I’ve dated a few, I’ve dated a few. I love a country boy. I love them. I love a man who can shovel horse manure. I love that. I love a man who will sit in grass."

Chappell Roan continued:

"I’ve dated a farm boy. I’ve dated someone who worked on a dairy farm. But I’ve also dated someone who will literally not sit on grass, and not touch a bug. I appreciate the country way. But also, you will find me making fun of them all… Why do we keep having songs about women not being satisfied?"
