The group released its latest studio album, Born Pink, on September 16, 2022. The members of the group talked about their album in their interview with Rolling Stone India, saying:
"Jennie: Just like the album’s title Born Pink, we wanted to express Blackpink’s essence — born to be Blackpink. We wanted to represent who we are, clearly. Rather than breaking records, we have really focused on our new songs."
In another interview posted on the BLACKPINK CAFÉ on September 12, 2022, band member ROSÉ elaborated on the difference between the band's first and second albums:
"If we only focused on ‘music’ for ‘THE ALBUM‘, this time, just like the title ‘BORN PINK’, we tried to express the essence of BLACKPINK. We tried many new things while keeping our own identity as BLACKPINK. We based hip hop and combined it with different genres, making constant variations and focused on expressing Blackpink’s own colors."
ROSÉ added:
"I can say that we’ve made an album that has never been seen before with our creative imaginations. During the process of making the album, all our members were filled with confidence. As much as that, we our preparation is perfectly complete."
The K-pop group was formed in 2010 and is currently run by YG Entertainment, which is one of the major K-pop labels as of the writing of this article.
