"He's just the kindest heart": Sofia Carson talks about collaborating with Jimin for 'Slow Dance'

In an exclusive interview with Hello magazine, Sofia Carson opened up on her collab with BTS’ Jimin for the song, Slow Dance.

Sharing how she was chosen for the collaboration, Carson told the outlet that Jimin loved the sound of her voice in her Netflix film, Purple Hearts and that’s how she got the call from his team.

Purple Hearts is a 2022 romantic drama film that stars Sofia Carson as Cassie Salazar who is a struggling singer-songwriter, as per the film’s IMDb description.

"I know that Jimin is a very special person and he has a beautiful heart, and they want to make sure that everyone that collaborates with him feels like they match him in that sense and I was so honored when they told me that.” She added.
"We had a beautiful experience, and they flew me out to Seoul to shoot the video together and he's just the kindest heart and I'm so grateful." She further expressed her interest of working with the Blackpink and said that they are, “killing it.”

With her recent collaboration with BTS member Jimin, fans are intrigued to know more about her.

Sofia Carson, whose real name is Sofía Daccarett Char was born on April 10, 1993, in Florida. She attended St. Hugh School and graduated from Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Miami. She majored in communications from the University of California, according to her IMDb profile page.

In 2012, she started her singing career as she joined Broadcast Music. Her first break in television came in 2014 when she appeared in the Disney series Austin & Ally which was followed by Faking It. In 2015 she played the role of 'Evie' in Descendants. She continued to appear in its sequels too, IMDb added.

She reportedly continued to appear in several other films including Adventures in Babysitting (2016), Feel The Beat (2020), Purple Hearts (2022), and Carry-On (2024).

Carson will be seen next in her upcoming Netflix film, The Life List which will be released on March 28, 2025.


Speaking about her interview with Hello magazine, this is not the first time Sofia Carson has expressed her admiration for Jimin. According to a report in K Star Tren, Carson praised her co-performer during an interview on MTV,

“Jimin seemed like he was made of honey—so kind and the sweetest person ever. We got along incredibly well and had such a great time bringing this collaboration to life.”

Sharing her thoughts on Muse she added,

“It was such a joy to surprise fans with the only female duet on this album. MUSE is a stunningly crafted album, and I’m so proud of Jimin. He truly deserves everything in the world.”

Reportedly, Slow Dance surpassed 10 million streams on Melon by November 13, 2024, and 64 million streams on Spotify by December 24, 2024.

The romantic track belongs to Jimin’s second studio album titled, Muse and appears as the fourth track among other songs, as per Fandom. A majority of fans loved the collaboration between Carson and Jimin and called it, “mesmerizing.”
