Elton John talks about his friendship with Chappell Roan

Elton John "officially joined the Pink Pony Club" during his performance with Chappell Roan at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscars Awards Viewing Party on March 2. Elton took to his Instagram to express gratitude towards Chappell for performing together and described it a "special" moment he would "never forget." He noted that they were able to raise more than $8 million for his AIDS foundation.

The singer is now set to release a new album with Brandi Carlile but continued to express warmth for Chappell. In his interview with Them, Elton revealed he loves Chappell for who she is. He added,

"I love her bravery and the fact she’s not scared to speak out and she won’t do something if she doesn’t want to. It is not all about doing this and doing that and going where you’re supposed to."

He reported that Chappell is not afraid of speaking her mind and drawing her boundaries. He noted,

"If you haven’t got the energy and it is taking your creative juices away, don’t do it. She’s not afraid to say that, and I love her for that."

After being asked if he gives any advice to Chappell, like other upcoming young artists, he noted that he is in "awe" of her. He added,

"I think she’s so great. And I’m just there to say, “Listen, if anything happens and you’re not sure about it, just FaceTime me or email me.” I’m just there for her. She’s doing very well."

Elton John's friendship with Chappell Roan is one of a kind in the music industry. The former expressed awe and love for Chappell and lauded her bravery. While Elton is set to release his new album on April 4, Chappell's new single, The Giver, will be released on March 13. While there is no official news of Elton and Chappel collaborating again, it doesn't seem unlikely.
