Katy Perry recently took to social media to showcase her space-inspired tour outfit, titled the KP 143 outfit by the singer. The risque outfit had metal plates in major areas of her body, including chest and shoulder, with what looked like spandex designed to look like wire lines connecting each of the plates.
This outfit, however, was met with a lot of backlash, with fans slamming the singer online on social media, as exemplified by the tweet below:
"Do you consider yourself an astronaut now?"
Other netizens also slammed her, with some claiming that other bands have done the space-inspired outfits better years before her, and others claiming this was just another attempt to shore up her fading relevancy:
"Daft Punk did this almost 30 years ago, much better than anyone ever could do it in the present day. Based on this, and the giga-cringe clip of you "performing", it's time to hang up the mic sis." one netizen commented.
"What's the phrase... Jumped The Shark? I'm sure the plan was a triumphant trip into space, and then afterwards everyone so impressed with her space-looking suit but... not so much." another netizen stated.
"First you believe you are an astronaut because you paid a lot of money for a ride, now you are dressing as a robot." one fan said.
"Why not go off gracefully with all of your money and influence. Do some good, build homes for vets, feed children. Your ego has turned you into a caricature." another fan opined.
"Can you please go back to space… and just stay there?" a netizen commented.
Katy Perry set to continue her Lifetime's tour with Mexico and US shows
Katy Perry is set to continue her Lifetimes tour with shows in Mexico, the US, and then Australia, the UK and South America, among others. The singer has embarked on this tour in support of her seventh studio album, 143, which was released on September 20, 2024.
Katy Perry talked about her tour in an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone publication on January 25, 2025, stating:
"It’s definitely going to hit on the whole lifetime thus far and celebrate the catalog. I always remember the audience is a hybrid of different types of people. It’s Number One fans, and then it’s just voyeurs. It’s people that only know me for one song, and then people that know “Simple.” It’s such a smorgasbord."
She added:
"We’re giving BPM. We’re giving unity. We’re giving dance. We’re giving empowerment. We’re feeling seen, and we’re connecting with strangers. I have a responsibility to the audience to give them that singalong, to create that moment, and to bring out some nostalgia."
Katy Perry stated:
"But as an artist, I have a responsibility to myself to stay true to my art. So I’ll be introducing some new songs. There will be a section that we have created on this tour for some songs that are the deepest cuts that have never seen the light of day. So, in the “Lifetimes” regard, yeah, we are going deep."
Katy Perry is currently set to continue her tour till December 7, 2025, with the final show set to be held at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The tour has a total of 81 remaining shows, as of the writing of this article. The tour is Katy Perry's first new tour since her 2018 Witness: The Tour.
