Lyrics of My Shayla decoded: Tory Lanez reportedly takes a dig at Roc Nation and others

In his track My Shayla, Tory Lanez reportedly took a dig at Jay-Z and Roc Nation. In an exclusive for Vice, a source revealed that Jay-Z or his company Roc Nation had "nothing to do with" Tory's shooting trial in 2020. While Tory was ultimately sentenced to prison, he appears to make similar claims in his new album, Peterson.
In his song My Shayla, Tory Lanez reveals that his family, including his father and seven-year-old son, protested the sentence at the court steps. A section of the lyrics potentially takes a dig at Jay-Z and reads:
"And n***as laughed and turned it into a meme / But what they ain’t know he was conceiving / The prophecy and seeing all of the things he was saying are starting to be."
The lyrics further reference the legal battle Jay-Z is currently facing after being accused of assault. Tory Lanez adds,
"Roc Nation coming for Milagro, that’s really funny / Even more, they tryna find ways to relate it to me /If i was petty I would countersue, because I got evidence / Meghann Cuniff been on payroll to play a dummy / Its gotta be the same standard, if its the same for me / Accused of rape and y'all don’t wanna judge the way you judged me? /Hahaha."
While he potentially takes a dig at Jay-Z, he also mentions people who have reportedly supported him. He adds:
"Lucky I got Caesar, Mitch, and United The People that’s out to slay!"
Music has often been a medium for ongoing feuds in the industry. From Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake to Tory Lanez vs. Roc Nation and others, rap beefs continue to escalate. Lanez's frustration with Roc Nation and others is evident in his lyrics.
Tory's Peterson is now available for streaming on major platforms.
