Cypress Hill is set to release a live album and concert film featuring their historic collaboration with the London Symphony Orchestra.

The two established musical groups performed together on July 10, 2024. Their performance was held at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London and was titled Cypress Hill and the London Symphony Orchestra: Black Sunday Live at the Royal Albert Hall, according to Cypress Hill’s official website.

According to a report in Hypebeast, the concert film will be released in theatres across US and Canada on March 30, March 31, and April 2. The live album is scheduled to drop on June 6, as per the report. The tickets are available on Cypress Hill’s website.

The idea behind their collaboration stems from The Simpsons’ "Homerpalooza" episode, which aired on May 19, 1996, as per a report in Fandom. How did the Simpsons inspire them?

Who would have known that a joke from The Simpsons would one day become an inspiration behind the collaboration between Cypress Hill and the London Symphony Orchestra? 29 years ago, the iconic animated sitcom aired the "Homerpalooza" episode in which Homer takes his family to a rock festival.

During the episode, as reported by Deadline, the Simpsons are headed backstage where the members of the Cypress Hill and other performers are hanging out. Suddenly, London Symphony Orchestra shows up, and a coordinator of the group asks,

“Somebody ordered the London Symphony Orchestra. Possibly while high, Cypress Hill I’m looking in your direction.”

After a while, the orchestra is asked if they are familiar with the song “Insane in the Brain?” And the violinist answers,

“We mostly know classical…but we could give it a shot.”

The episode was well-received by fans and was praised for its clever scripting and memorable moments. This is how the two famous musical groups were inspired to collaborate and make history.
