Cardi B and DJ Khaled drop 'Higher Love' for new 'Smurfs' movie soundtrack

Cardi B and DJ Khaled have reunited for their latest collaboration titled, Higher Love for the much-anticipated film, Smurfs which will be released on July 18, 2025.

The new track was released on February 21, 2025, and also features Desi Trill’s Natania and Subhi. It samples Belinda Carlisle's classic hit Heaven Is a Place on Earth from 1987.

The lyrics go:

“Everybody need love and I need some too/ Diamonds look sad ’cause each one blue.”

“Make heaven on earth, bae, I think you’re perfect/ Sweet like dessert but do you deserve it/ Think about me, I’m on your mental.”

While DJ Khaled and Cardi B will not be acting in the Smurfs (2025), the latest film will show Rihanna as Smurfette. Let us delve into details to dig deeper into the upcoming film.

Rihanna to voice Smurfette in Smurfs (2025)

The trailer for the upcoming film, Smurfs (2025) was released on February 6, 2025. Introducing herself at the beginning of the trailer, Rihanna says,

“Hey everyone, I’m Rihanna and I play Smurfette in the new Smurfs movie. And I can’t wait for you all to see it this summer.”

She is then joined by other characters who are seen dancing to Rihanna’s Please Don’t Stop The Music before Papa Smurf is abducted by what seems to be a UFO. The trailer continues as snippets of Higher Love play in the background.

Expressing his excitement Khaled shared a statement as reported by Billboard. He said:

“It feels like a full-circle moment now having children of my own who watch the Smurfs as well, and I get to be a part of the soundtrack. I’m excited to work alongside Cardi B, Natania and Subhi on ‘Higher Love’ for this monumental movie soundtrack. It’s inspiring and looking forward to sharing our music with the world.”

While Cardi B shared a snippet of the song, Higher Love on her X account and wrote,

"Ooooo baby do you know what I’m worth? Higher Love from the @smurfsmovie is OUT NOW"

This is not the first time the duo has collaborated; the two artists have worked together before on multiple projects.

In 2018, the two collaborated on Dinero which also featured Jennifer Lopez. In 2019, Cardi B appeared in Wish Wish, alongside 21 Savage. Khaled co-produced the song with Tay Keith.

The song was a part of the music producer’s 2019 album, Father of Asahd. Big Paper which was released in 2021 is another song featuring both Cardi B and Khaled.

The first Smurfs film was titled The Smurfs and was released in 2011. It was followed by Smurfs 2 in 2013 and Smurfs: The Lost Village in 2017.
