Lil Durk released his long-anticipated album, Deep Thoughts. The Grammy Award-winning hip-hop trailblazer and multi-platinum superstar dropped his ninth studio album on March 28, 2025, while still incarcerated.

The album's release was met with praise from fans, but its streaming numbers sparked criticism from netizens.

@HipHopAllDayy on X shared the news with the caption:

"Lil Durk's 'DEEP THOUGHTS' earned 7.1M streams in its opening day on Spotify. It becomes the fifth biggest opening day of the year for a rap album."

Numerous reactions followed, with netizens taking to the comments section to share their opinions on the album, some openly comparing his numbers to other artists.

Deep Thoughts experienced multiple delays since its announcement in 2024 due to Lil Durk's murder-for-hire charges. The rapper finally released the album on Friday, much to the excitement of his fans.

Deep Thoughts is led by five singles, including Turn Up a Notch, Monitoring Me, Late Checkout, Opportunist, and Can't Hide It. The album contains 17 tracks in total, including Shaking When I Pray, Keep On Sippin', Soul Bleed, 1000 Times (featuring Lil Baby), Can't Hide It (featuring Jhené Aiko), and Wonderin' Again, to mention a few.

The album features guest appearances from Future, Lil Baby, Jhené Aiko, and Hunxho. It was produced by various producers, including Metro Boomin, Southside, Benny Blanco, and Lil Yachty.

Lil Durk uses Deep Thoughts to get a lot off his chest. As one of the rappers to emerge from the Drill Movement, the album embodies the trauma and hardship he has faced over the years.
