Jam band Goose confirmed on social media that they are parting ways with their instrumentalist, Jeff Arevalo. Following this change, the band will be a four-person collective, including Peter Anspach, Rick Mitarotonda, Trevor Weekz, and Cotter Ellis. The announcement comes a few months before the band's scheduled performance on June 21 at the CDAC, Canandaigua.
In a joint statement, the band confirmed on Instagram that they were reportedly
"made aware of behavior in Jeff's personal life that doesn't align with the band's core values."
The members described it as an "unfortunate" and "unexpected" change and,
"We did not anticipate having to make another painful change to the band."
They added that they will continue "upholding the values", including "respecting others and creating a safe environment." The statement further read that the other "four" members were able to "forge" a deep relationship with each other in their "past tour."
Jeff Arevalo responds after Goose's band post about parting ways with him
This is not the first time the Goose has undergone structural changes. The band had previously parted ways with drummer Ben Atkind in 2023, and an earlier founding member, Chris Enright, parted ways in 2017. In response to the band's post on Instagram, Jeff Arevalo took to social media on March 24, 2025, to reveal his experience of the situation. He reportedly took a break from the tour in January 2025 to manage a "personal crisis."
Arevalo wrote that he continued to attend to his "mental health" while working with "counselors" and, additionally, attending "group therapy." He appeared to express his disappointment that instead of his band members reaching out to him, he received an "email" from the "band's lawyer" that he was "being let go."
While Arevalo expressed gratitude towards his fans and the opportunities while being part of the group, he noted that he did not feel he was "rightly respected, valued, or properly utilized." He revealed he refused to sign an "NDA" and "forgo" his "severance" pay to "retain dignity and truth."
Arevalo also announced that they will be closing the chapter for their acoustic trio and Goose's side project, Orebolo. He revealed that he will be "holding tryouts for two new guitar players" at a future date.
The Goose members announced that they are parting ways with multi-instrumentalist Jeff Arevalo. It is unclear if Arevalo will be involved in the promotion of the band's new album, Everything Must Go, slated for release on April 25. However, the singer has been credited with the album's tracks, Give It Time and Lead Up. The band and Arevalo wished each other the best for their future.
