While rappers may show you that life is all about the glitz, glam, girls, and money through their music videos, the reality can be quite different. Many rappers are currently in the midst of legal issues and are facing charges for the crimes they have committed. It may surprise you that some of the biggest names in the hip-hop industry have served jail time once upon a time.

It may come as a bigger surprise to see some of the big names currently being locked up. In this list, we explore why these 10 rappers are in jail and on what charges they were sentenced to jail time.

10 rappers who are currently serving jail time

The rappers on this list have been convicted of different types of charges, which include s*x trafficking, m**d*r, dr*g trafficking, violating their probation, and more.

Sean John Combs

One of the biggest rapper-related legal stories circulating the internet right now is P. Diddy's case. He was arrested on September 17, 2024, and is currently incarcerated. It has been six months since he was locked up because of the alleged s*x trafficking and racketeering rumors. He has also been accused of physical, verbal, and sexual assault back in 2024. He is currently in jail and waiting for his trial before being sentenced.

Tory Lanez

Another high-profile rapper who is behind bars is Tory Lanez. Lanez was declared guilty on December 23, 2022, after he was accused of shooting American rapper Megan Thee Stallion. He is being sentenced to 10 years in prison and has only served two years so far. He was charged with carrying an unregistered firearm in a vehicle, for negligent discharge of a firearm, and for assault with a semiautomatic firearm. In total, Lanez is facing 22 years in prison.

Fetty Wap

If you are wondering why you have not heard American singer, songwriter, and rapper Fetty Wap releasing new music, it is because he is currently serving jail time. The Trap Queen singer was incarcerated on October 29, 2021, and was sentenced to six years in jail. While he was behind bars, he was released on bond, but was back in custody next year on August 21, 2022. He was found guilty of distributing illegal drugs in his New York area.

Tay-K

While the above crimes are considered serious with a couple of years of jail time, Tay-K was sentenced to 55 years in prison on the charge of first-degree m**der. Tay-K was sentenced on July 23, 2019. He was found guilty of k***ing and robbing Ethan Walker back in 2016. However, this is not Tay-K's first crime. He has also received 30 and 13 years in prison for aggravated robbery on two different occasions.

Kay Flock

Another artist who is in jail but has yet to be sentenced is American rapper Kay Flock. He was accused and found guilty of sh***ing Oscar Hernandez outside a barber shop in Harlem, New York. He was also charged based on a RICO indictment. He has been in prison since December 24, 2021.

KR

Kaalan "KR" Walker was sent to prison on September 26, 2018, on the charge of multiple r**e cases. His sentence came after almost four years on October 18, 2022. He will be serving 50 years in prison for r**ing four women and three teenage girls that he met online. The jury found him guilty of three forcible r**e, two statutory r**e, and two counts of r**e by intoxication.

Blueface

Johnathan Jamall Porter, also popularly known as Blueface, was sent to prison for seven months in January 2024 for violating his probation for a 2021 assault case. However, he was sentenced to additional prison time of four years while he was still in jail for breaking his probation in a shooting that happened in 2022.

Tsu Surf

Tsu Surf was sent to prison on October 13, 2022, as he was suspected to be a leader of the crime gang called the Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips. On November 30, 2023, he was sentenced to five years in prison on account of racketeering conspiracy and for possessing firearms and ammunition while being a convicted felon.

Casanova

Caswell Senior, a.k.a. Casanova, was sentenced to 15 years and 6 months in prison after he was found distributing illegal drugs and possessing firearms. He was a part of the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation gang, and he was indicted under the RICO statute.

Kidd Creole

This artist's charge will leave a chill down your spine. Kidd Creole was sent to prison on August 2, 2017, and was later sentenced to 16 years in prison for first-degree m*nsla**hter. He was found guilty of st**bing a homeless 55-year-old man named John Jolly, after a dispute broke up. Kidd Creole tried to explain the reason why he st**bed him was because he thought the man was trying to steal from him.


These are some of the rappers who are currently serving time for their crimes and are facing legal consequences. Their charges range from drug trafficking to more violent acts of m**der and m*nsla**hter. Their sentences also range from a few months up to 55+ years in prison.
