FDA’s latest announcement has sent ripples through kitchens nationwide as it has recalled a staple product – breadcrumbs. The pantry staple is widely used in recipes ranging from crispy coatings to savoury stuffing.
La Fiesta Food Products has issued a recall for eight ounces packages of its La Fiesta Unseasoned Bread Crumbs (Pan Rayado) and Seasoned Bread Crumbs (Pan Rayado Sazonado) because the products contain sesame, an allergen which was not listed on the packaging, as indicated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on January 28, 2025.
The report further added that the packing labels do not include the allergen declaration in Spanish. FDA stated that people who are allergic to sesame are at risk of serious and life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the recalled product.

The recall affects over 26,000 packages of unseasoned breadcrumbs and 6,000 packages of seasoned breadcrumbs sold across various retailers, according to All Recipes. This has prompted consumers to check their cupboards for the affected products.
