“Why do companies try harder outside the US?”: Fans react to SpongeBob Dunkin Donuts launching in Peru

A new collection of Dunkin Donuts inspired by the characters of the hit cartoon series SpongeBob SquarePants has launched in Peru, and American foodies want it. The multinational coffee and donut company is selling Peru-exclusive boxes of donuts with colorful icing in the image of SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward.

“Dunkin just dropped a new line of SpongeBob SquarePants donuts….but in Peru. These look incredible and continue a trend Dunkin’ actually puts effort into donuts outside of the US...”

More details on the SpongeBob SquarePants Dunkin Donuts

According to Snackolator, the SpongeBob and Squidward Donuts are filled with pastry cream, and the Patrick variety is filled with Dulce de Leche. The special edition donuts feature the faces of the cartoon characters carved using different colors of icing.

The SpongeBob pastry treats are sold in a box alongside other bestsellers from the company, like the glazed donuts with a drizzle of chocolate, donuts with blue icing, and donuts with colorful sprinkles. Dunkin Donuts Peru also revealed SpongeBob and Patrick tumblers in yellow and pink. The tumblers also feature the characters printed on them.

In other news, Dunkin Donuts will celebrate Valentine’s Day 2025 by re-releasing some of its bestselling products—the Cupid’s Choice Specialty donut and the Brownie Batter Specialty donuts.

The company announced on its website as follows:

"Beginning Wednesday, January 29, Dunkin’ is rolling out the pink carpet for Valentine’s Day nationwide, with two heart-shaped fan favorites making a comeback. Dunkin’ fans will fall in love all over again with the Cupid’s Choice Specialty Donut, filled with Bavarian Kreme and topped with strawberry-flavored icing and festive sprinkles, and the Brownie Batter Specialty Donut, filled with chocolatey, brownie batter-flavored butter creme and topped with chocolate icing and Valentine’s Day sprinkles."
