Nike is officially launching Swoosh TC. It is a new network that is designed to push the limits of distance running performance, per the brand.

Swoosh TC is a structured training network that brings together top athletes, coaches, and resources across multiple locations in the United States. With training hubs in Utah, Oregon, and Arizona, Nike seemingly aims to provide elite runners with good coaching and other required facilities to enhance their performance.

Led by Diljeet Taylor, Jerry Schumacher, and Mike Smith, Swoosh TC represents Nike’s latest initiative to strengthen the American distance running scene. Here is how Nike introduced the Swoosh TC via an official press release:

"Nike is combining the power of its champion athletes, five-decade running legacy and science-backed products and programming to unveil Swoosh TC: a network of elite distance runners, coaches and innovators working together to push the boundaries of performance and progress at the leading edge of sport."

It also added,

"More than a professional running club, Swoosh TC draws on a dynamic training and support system that puts Nike athletes’ needs and ambitions at the forefront, harnessing best-in-class coaching, resources and innovation to help runners reach their potential — nodding to Nike’s deep commitment to listening to the voice of the athlete."

What is Swoosh TC?

Swoosh TC, Swoosh Track Club, is a professional training network built to support elite distance runners by providing them with advanced coaching, resources, and more. The idea is believed to be creating a collective training system where athletes can test their potential through collaboration and access to good facilities.

Nike has established three hubs as part of this network:

  • Provo, Utah – Led by Diljeet Taylor, a coach from BYU
  • Eugene, Oregon – Led by Jerry Schumacher, in partnership with Shalane Flanagan
  • Flagstaff, Arizona – Led by Mike Smith, in partnership with Rachel Smith

Each hub offers altitude and sea-level training, making it easier for runners to develop endurance and adapt to different racing conditions, Nike claims.

Unlike traditional training setups where athletes are tied to a single club, Swoosh TC allows Nike-sponsored distance runners to move between these hubs and train where it best suits their needs.

Here is what the brand had to mention regarding this,

"Built by Nike runners, for Nike runners, Swoosh TC will initially consist of three clubs across the country, each with a physical hub and industry-leading resources in the location where its athletes live and train."

It continues:

"Further, Nike will partner with three of the nation’s most respected head coaches, who share the brand’s commitment to creating positive change through sport and working together to empower Nike athletes to maximize their talent."

Diljeet shared in a statement,

"We’re doing that through working as a collective to fulfill athletes’ dreams, helping them unleash their potential and creating a community where they can be successful. Having increased access to all three hubs will help athletes to push the boundaries of performance, giving them opportunities to train both at altitude and sea level."

Shedding some light on Swoosh TC, she added,

"The program’s commitment is centered around the athlete and their needs, and we’re committed to supporting them at every step, building a strong culture of community, and giving them the best possible opportunity to succeed."

However, only Nike-sponsored runners can fully benefit from the network, leaving out other talented athletes who might not yet have brand sponsorships.
