Wegmans, known for its high-quality products, exceptional customer service, and consistently low prices, is ready to expand its branch in the Pittsburgh area.
According to a report, Wegmans Food Markets Inc. and Sipple Enterprises LP will be opening a new store in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. Since 1916, Wegmans has been offering fresh produce, gourmet foods, and a wide range of local and organic products.
“We’ve received thousands of requests for a Wegmans in the Pittsburgh region since opening our first Pennsylvania store over 30 years ago,” said Dan Aken, the company’s vice president of real estate and store planning. “We’re excited to have finally found the right location to bring Wegmans to the Pittsburgh area.” Aken added.
The upcoming store promises to bring an enhanced shopping experience for the customers.
The company has not revealed the opening date for the new store yet but plans to hire 400-500 new employees.

The new Wegmans will be located on 13 acres of land on Cool Springs Drive, adjacent to the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. According to a press release, the store will feature all the essential departments that are a part of Wegmans.
This includes a variety of produce, including meat, seafood, bakery, deli, and cheese options. In addition to this, the new Wegmans store will also include a specific department for wine and beer.
Speaking on choosing the Cranberry Township as the new location for Wegmans, Cranberry Township Manager Daniel Santoro said in a press release,
“Cranberry Township is home to many exceptional businesses that enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. We are delighted that Wegmans has chosen Cranberry Township as its first location in the Pittsburgh area.”
According to a 2024 report in The Packer, Fortune magazine had listed Wegmans Food Markets Inc. as one of the 100 best companies to work for. Sharing his opinion on the same, Colleen Wegman, president and CEO of Wegman Food Markets, said,

We celebrate this honor together and thank our people for making Wegmans a special place to work and shop for all.”
Wegmans also contributes to community service each year. The company participates in food donations, event sponsorships, well-paying jobs for youth and adults, and much more.
Currently, there are over 111 stores located along the East Coast, with over 19 Wegman stores in Pennsylvania. The new store will be located within 20 miles of Pittsburgh.
A report in Syracuse.com indicated that Wegman stores expanded across eight states, including New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Delaware. It also includes Washington, D.C. The company plans to open three new stores in 2025 in Maryland, Connecticut, and Long Island.
