2024 was a crazy year for fashion, not just designer and couture, but including every aspect of the fashion spectrum. From new creative directors to chief executives stepping down, this paved the way for new innovators in 2025. In this list, we have compiled five designer debuts you will see in 2025.

New masterpieces are expected to grace the catwalk in 2025. From Matthieu Blazy's departure from Bottega Veneta and his new appointment with Chanel, and other designers joining fashion houses as their new creative directors. 2025 is set for something amazing.

Below is a list of five designers you should keep your eyes on this 2025.


5 designer debuts who will be shaping the fashion scene in 2025

Matthieu Blazy

From 2021 to 2024, Matthieu Blazy served as Bottega Veneta's creative director. Chanel has appointed him as their newest creative director. Chanel is a 114-year-old brand and Matthieu is their fourth official creative director. With his chic and sophisticated design, Chanel is excited to work with him.

Bruno Pavlovsky, who is the president of fashion and the president of Chanel SAS said,

"Matthieu stood out immediately because he has a track record, a vision of Chanel and a modernity that seduced us... We hope to be together for 10, 15 years or more. We’re just at the start of our story."

Veronica Leoni

Veronica Leoni will debut her first-ever Calvin Klein collection on the New York runway on January 7, 2025. Leoni has worked with other popular brands such as Celine, Jil Sander, Moncler, and The Row. Calvin Klein has been off the runway for more than six years, and Leoni's collection marks their first break from a long pause.

Eva Serrano, the global brand president of Calvin Klein had this to say,

"Leoni’s debut marks a new era of innovation and creativity, embracing a fresh vision for the brand while honoring its iconic heritage."

Haider Ackermann

Tom Ford revealed Haider Ackermann as their newest creative director on September 4, 2024. French designer Ackermann, who was born in Colombia, has dressed celebrities such as Tilda Swinton and Timothée Chalamet, among other celebrities. In addition, he has signed with Canada Goose and worked for companies like Jean Paul Gaultier and Berluti.

Tom Ford, the owner of the brand himself had some high words of praise for Ackermann, he said:

"I have long been a great fan of Haider’s work. I find both his womenswear and menswear equally compelling... I could not be more excited to see what he does with the brand."

Sarah Burton

Sarah Burton is a force to be reckoned with in the fashion industry. She has been working with Alexander McQueen ever since his death in 2011. Last year, on September 9, 2024, Sarah Burton was announced as Givenchy's newest creative director, effective immediately.

Burton has made Givenchy history as its eighth designer and the only second woman couturier to date. In one of the interviews, Burton expressed her excitement by saying,

"to be able to write the next chapter in the story of this iconic house and to bring to Givenchy my own vision, sensibility and beliefs."

Michael Rider

Michael Rider has worked with some big names in the fashion industry. These include Balenciaga and Phoebe Philo. He was Ralph Lauren's creative director from 2018 to 2024. Now, he will be taking Hedi Slimane's position as creative director for Celine in 2025.

However, this is not Michael Rider's first time with the French brand. He worked with Celine from 2008 to 2018 as their design director of ready-to-wear. When asked about Celine, this is what Rider said,

"Celine is a maison with values very close to my heart and a beautiful heritage to build on."

For debut designers, this year is going to be a significant one. From popular fashion houses like Givenchy and Chanel to brands who are coming back to the runway after a long pause. This year, keep an eye out for some of the most inventive and creative designs that will grace the runway.
