PUMA has joined forces with French designer, Louis-Gabriel Nouchi, to reimagine the brand's beloved Mostro sneaker in a new silhouette: the PUMA x LGN Mostro Mule. The collaborative pack features two different colorway variations: Black, and White, both priced around $180.

This brand-new collaboration was revealed during Nouchi's Spring/Summer 2025 runway show at Paris Fashion Week. It reimagines the 1999 classic. The release of the PUMA x LGN Mostro pack is officially scheduled for January 23, 2025. In the first phase, it will only be available on LGN, and from 25 January 25, 2025, one can purchase the shoes at select retailers.

Exploring the PUMA x LGN Mostro Mule pack

PUMA introduced its latest collaboration pack with Louis-Gabriel Nouchi in an official press release, stating:

"PUMA officially announces a new collaboration with French independent designer Louis-Gabriel Nouchi. The partnership ushers in the new PUMA x LGN Mostro Mule, which made its debut on the runway last season, during Nouchi’s SS25 presentation in Paris."

Shedding some light on the upcoming footwear features, the brand added:

"Nouchi’s modern rework takes the original 1999 silhouette and updates it for 2025, imagining the Mostro with a backless, slip-on fit and streamlined shape, complete with one of the shoe’s signature features, its distinctive spikes. The single-material rubberized construction has been rendered in two simple colorways: tonal white and black."

The PUMA x LGN Mostro Mule takes the DNA of the original 1999 sneaker and turns it into a backless silhouette. It is constructed from a single piece of molded EVA foam and rubber. With this, the design is relatively minimalistic and lightweight.

One of Mostro’s most recognizable features, the spikes, are retained in this new design. These add texture and a nod to the sneaker’s heritage while complementing the modern and streamlined look.

The mule shoes are available in two monochromatic options: deep black and bone white. These versatile shades make the mule suitable for casual outings, high-fashion settings, and more. The shoe's slip-on design also makes it easy to use.

Louis-Gabriel Nouchi’s take on the Mostro mule

Nouchi describes the mule as a design object and a comfortable sneaker. By reinterpreting the Mostro with a minimalist, backless construction, he transforms it into a piece that feels equally at home in a gallery as it does on the streets, the brand claims.

Below is what PUMA had to mention about this:

"Following his SS25 show, Nouchi revealed more about his unique Mostro noting, “I synthesized the essence of the iconic Mostro shoes into a radical mule design using a single material, transforming it into both a design object and a comfortable sneaker.” This visionary collaboration takes its inspiration from the natural strength and grace of PUMA’s namesake, the ferocious big cat."

Both colorways of the PUMA x LGN Mostro mule have been listed on the official LGN website for pre-order. The product description by the brand is as follows:

"Designer Louis-Gabriel Nouchi's vision introduces a fresh, summer-ready design that combines indoor and outdoor versatility. The single-piece construction highlights the Mostro's distinctive anatomical sole and signature studs, transforming it into an elegant design object that offers ultimate comfort."

It continues:

"This minimalist and radical version of the Mostro as a mule is crafted from molded and injected EVA foam and rubber, available in LGN's signature colors of deep black and bone white."
