Sneaker design

About the sneaker series

The Easy Rider trainer had an equally significant impact on the world, even though it was unrelated to the 1969 revolutionary road film about two freewheeling motorcycle riders.

Tommie Smith and John Carlo's Black Power salutes during the 1968 Mexico Olympics had already won over the running community to the PUMA Suede. By the late 1970s and early 1980s, running trainer technology was undergoing significant change.

Adidas, Nike, and New Balance were tough competitors, and a basic sued silhouette was no longer sufficient. In the instance of PUMA, they fully committed to the Easy Rider.

It ultimately came down to developing a running shoe that would minimize injuries—something that had not been done much in the past.

One of the "easiest" running shoes available at the time was most likely the PUMA Easy Rider. Stress areas, support, and avoiding shoe-related injuries were the main design goals.

Additionally, it was quite a stylish casual trainer.

The Easy Rider, which debuted in 1977, launched a line of cutting-edge PUMA running shoes that included the Rockette and Whirlwind, all of which were produced in the late 1970s.
