Nike is releasing its LeBron 22 "Currency" this Friday, November 15, 2024. The shoes are a product of the collaboration between Nike and Monopoly. Once released, the brand new sneakers will be available for purchase via Nike's website, Nike SNKRS, and other selected retailers at a price of USD 200.

Nike has previously partnered with global icons multiple times such as the Travis Scott x Nike collaboration. This time, it partners with American basketball power forward LeBron James to feature the LeBron 22 "Currency" colorway.

Nike teams up with Hasbro to sport elements of the Monopoly board game into the design. The collaboration is expected to be aimed at basketball fans, sneaker collectors, and Monopoly lovers. With its official release date set as November 15, 2024, this drop is getting the attention of fans around the world.

Delving into the Nike LeBron 22 "Currency"

Nike and LeBron James’ partnership has been a loved one in the global sneaker industry. The LeBron 22 continues this partnership further. This time, it is seen featuring different elements of the Monopoly, a game that has been a enjoyable part of family gatherings and friendly competitions. In this collaboration, Nike and Hasbro bring Monopoly’s themes of money and playfulness with the Nike LeBron 22 "Currency".

The LeBron 22 “Currency” colorway draws reference from Monopoly’s paper money, which features money like graphics and Art Deco aesthetics onto the shoes' design. Nike has also released a second colorway of the sneakers in "Crown Jewel", which is priced at USD 180 and can be availed on Nike's website.

To mark the launch of these sneakers, Nike will reportedly celebrate Monopoly Day on November 19 at LeBron James’ “I Promise School” in Akron, Ohio. The event will feature a large sized Monopoly game, where students will get a chance to learn about financial things.

Below is what Nike had to mention about the LeBron 22 "Currency" on its website:

"LeBron isn't slowing down anytime soon. The open-court nightmare is as fast and spry as ever. But even Bron needs support when he's at full throttle. That's why we leveled up the LeBron 22. Newly implemented saddle wings offer optimal midfoot stability."

It continues:

"They complement the heel and forefoot Air Zoom units, so the King can keep pushing the sport forward. This version nods to one of LeBron's favorite board games and his willingness to make deposits in the everyday grind that pays dividends."

The upper of the LeBron 22 “Currency” is crafted from breathable mesh. The mesh sports a textured look. The shoe incorporates shades of White, Green Glow, Pink Foam, and Baltic Blue. These colors mirror the hues of Monopoly money. Nike introduces new saddle wings on both side of the midfoot of the shoes. These wing like structures are designed to hold the foot in place during rapid movements.

The LeBron 22 "Currency" features dual Air Zoom units. A large and curved Air Zoom unit is sported in the forefoot. Additionally, there's a bottom loaded Air Zoom unit in the heel.

Priced at USD 200, the LeBron 22 "Currency" will be available at Nike.com, Nike SNKRS, and other retail locations from November 15, 2024.
