Nike Air Jordan 5 “Black Tongue” shoes will feature white and red accents

The Air Jordan 5 showcases a classic blend of White, Black, and Fire Red. The outer layer consists of high quality white leather, featuring distinctive mesh netting on the lateral sections and tongue. A dramatic black tongue provides contrast, which gives the shoe an arresting silhouette with its white top.

The lateral heel features Michael Jordan's emblematic number "23" sewn in red, subtly echoing his jersey. The heel features the Nike Air labeling, imparting a vintage aesthetic that reflects its original heritage.

Red elements show up on the midsole, lace lock, and sock liner, enhancing the vintage appeal. The layout is completed with a translucent outer sole unit, adhering to the classic style.

The design inspiration behind the Jordan 5 silhouette are American fighter planes used in World War II. Nike’s site underlines the heritage of the design in the following manner:

“Nike designer Tinker Hatfield took inspiration from Jordan's biting style, and likening it to an American WWll fighter plane, he designed the Air Jordan 5 with shark-tooth shapes on the midsole, paired with a clear outside. The shoe captured a ferocity truly reminiscent of its relentless muse who was fighting his way to the top of his game.”

Jordanheads curious to get their hands on the speculated Air Jordan 5 “Black Tongue” rendition are advised to stay in touch with Swoosh’s official site for timely updates about release date and launch.
