Nike will drop the latest Air Jordan 11 in a "Bred Velvet" colorway on November 11, 2024. This edition is made specifically for women, with a price point of USD 230. Once released, it will be available for purchase globally via Nike SNKRS, Nike website, and other selected retail locations.
The black and red, or the "Bred" iteration of the Air Jordan 11, was last launched in late 2019. Nike has maintained the legacy to come with a new iteration featuring different colorways of the AJ 11 almost every year after its initial launch in 1995. Nike has declared the Air Jordan 11 Retro “Bred Velvet” to be this year's iteration of the much-acclaimed sneaker line, which is scheduled to drop this holiday season of 2024.
Delving into Air Jordan 11 "Bred Velvet"
The Air Jordan 11 first debuted in 1995. The legendary American designer Tinker Linn Hatfield designed the shoe and worked with Nike to create multiple shoe designs. He is known for some iconic designs like Air Jordan (Air Jordan 3 through Air Jordan 15) and Air Max. Many fans believed this model to symbolize Michael Jordan’s return to the NBA after a brief break in baseball. The sneaker has been a matter of enthusiasm for sneakerheads across the world.
The color scheme of the shoes was a direct reference to Michael Jordan himself. The global basketball icon frequently wore these colors on the NBA court with the Chicago Bulls. The release of the "Bred Velvet" colorway takes this iconic color combination and adds a touch of velvet in the upper, making it the latest addition to the Air Jordan lineup.
The “Bred Velvet” primarily keeps the classic silhouette, but it has also been featured with varied materials and a refined look. The "Bred Velvet" upper is crafted from velvet. This velvet texture gives the shoe a soft appearance. At this point, the new edition gets a break from the original leather and mesh construction. The velvet is colored in black.
The sneaker combines black, white, and gym red. The black velvet dominates the upper. Subtle gym red accents contrast this. The accents are mainly seen on the Jumpman logo on the side. Except for the velvet part, the colorway is mainly rooted in Air Jordan's history.
The toe box is also crafted with plush velvet material. The shoe’s midsole is clean white. The color creates a contrast against the darker tones of the upper. The outsole, clad in gym red, features a rubber material. The red hue on the outsole adds to the "Bred" color scheme.
Below is what the official website had to mention about this upcoming iteration of Air Jordan 11:
"Soft and plush velvet makes for a seriously luxe take on the AJ11—and who says you don't deserve to step out in luxury? Heritage colors and an always iconic design keep these kicks rooted to the original. As if you needed another reason to love the AJ11."
