Nike is reportedly set to launch the Air Force 1 SK8, a skate-specific version of its beloved Air Force 1 silhouette.
According to Sneaker Bar Detroit, the Nike Air Force 1 SK8 “Psychic Blue” sneakers are scheduled to be released in Summer 2025, with a retail price point of around $120. Fans can find the pair on the official Nike website, SNKRS app, and select retail points, on release.
Disclaimer: Details of the Summer Nike Air Force 1 SK8 “Psychic Blue” sneakers are only speculated, and are not yet confirmed by the brand. They are subject to change.
This new skate-ready model takes the OG features of the AF1 model and allegedly makes subtle tweaks that cater to skateboarders. While not officially part of the Nike SB (Skateboarding) line, the Air Force 1 SK8 is expected to offer better durability and comfort for skaters.
The Nike Air Force 1 has been a beloved silhouette since its debut in 1982. Originally designed as a basketball sneaker, the shoe was quick to find a place in hip-hop, streetwear, and sneaker industry worldwide. Over the decades, Nike has dropped multiple iterations of the model, with the reported SK8 “Psychic Blue” sneakers being the latest.
Reported features and design elements of the Nike Air Force 1 SK8 “Psychic Blue” sneakers
The “Psychic Blue” colorway is one of the first editions of this sneaker, featuring a mixture of Photon Dust, Psychic Blue, White, and Gum Light Brown, Sneaker Bar Detroit reports. The upper reportedly combines premium leather and suede overlays, while the padded tongue and thicker laces are added for the comfort of the wearer. A white midsole rests atop a gum rubber outsole.
Like the Nike SB Dunk, which transformed the original Dunk basketball shoe into skateboarding gear, the AF1 SK8 follows a similar path. However, it is not part of the Nike SB line. It seemingly means that the modifications are subtle rather than a complete redesign.
Nike has reportedly adjusted key elements to make the upcoming AF1 SK8 more skate-friendly:
- A padded tongue for comfort.
- Thicker, skate-style laces for a better fit.
- Nubuck overlays have been featured on the toe and heel of the Air Force 1 SK8 “Psychic Blue” sneakers.
- A gum rubber outsole has also been added, which is expected to offer a good grip.
The “Psychic Blue” colorway explored
Nike is reportedly launching the AF1 SK8 in multiple colorways including the “Psychic Blue” edition. Some of its notable features include:
- Upper: A mix of Photon Dust leather and soft suede overlays adds contrast.
- Swoosh and branding: The Psychic Blue Swoosh and liner are expected to give the sneaker a subtle pop of color.
- Tongue and laces: Extra padding in the tongue and skate-inspired thicker laces are sported.
- Midsole: A white midsole has been added.
- Outsole: The gum rubber sole complements the blue and grey upper for a balanced design.
Additionally, this model reportedly lacks the SK8 branding. It seems that Nike has chosen to keep the design minimal, without special logos or markings that set it apart from a regular Air Force 1. This could be seen as a pro or con, depending on whether the buyer wants a visibly skate-focused sneaker or an understated design.
Moreover, the Air Force 1 SK8 "Psychic Blue" is not an official Nike SB model, so tech features may be limited.
