WNBA superstar A’ja Wilson officially unveils her first-ever signature shoe, the Nike A’One. Nike has scheduled the pair to drop in May 2025.
These sneakers have been featured with a “Pink A’ura” colorway. The line also ranges from an apparel collection and a matching A’One Calm slide. Sneaker Bar Detroit reports that the pair will drop on May 8, 2025, with a retail price point of around $110. On release, sneaker fans can grab the pair on the SNKRS app, the official Nike website, and select retail locations.
With WNBA championships, two Olympic gold medals, an NCAA title, and three WNBA MVP awards, Wilson’s influence on the court is significantly notable. Now, she’s stepping into the global footwear industry.
Nike has introduced the Nike A’One “Pink A’ura” sneakers through an official press release, stating:
"The Nike A’One signature basketball shoe is designed to deliver the comfort and versatility required by one of the greatest players in the world, offering A’ja Wilson, other elite athletes and fans of the game an optimal combination of cushioning, traction, fit and support."
It continues:
"Personalized design details recall Wilson’s family history and carry forward the vibrancy and unapologetic realness central to her style."
From Celtic symbols representing her parents to pearl motifs inspired by her grandmother, details of the A’One give a nod to Wilson’s life.
Nike A’One “Pink A’ura”: Design and features explored
Nike spent over two years developing the A’One. The shoe features Cushlon ST2 foam, a responsive midsole that provides smooth landings and explosive energy return, the brand claims.
However, the Pink A’ura colorway may not appeal to those who prefer neutral tones. Moreover, as a high-profile release, the A’One could sell out quickly.
The newly announced sneakers have a reworked traction pattern and a breathable mesh upper. Describing these features, Nike mentioned,
"The A’One is designed to deliver the comfort and versatility required by one of the greatest players in the world, offering Wilson, other elite athletes and fans of the game an optimal combination of cushioning, traction, fit and support."
It goes on,
"The silhouette’s Cushlon ST2 foam works with a firmer base to deliver explosive responsiveness and smooth, cushioned landings so hoopers stay ready for every play. A reimagined traction pattern lets athletes cut, pivot and move side to side with precision, while a supportive insole and breathable mesh upper help athletes lock in for unstoppable, dynamic movement."
A’ja Wilson’s signature details
Multiple design elements of the Nike A’One nod to Wilson’s life, include:
- Pearl details: A nod to the necklace gifted by her grandmother.
- Celtic symbols: Engraved on the shoe, honoring her parents.
- Signature logo: Inspired by the star Wilson draws inside the “A” of her name.
- Inspirational message on the outsole: The phrase “As a matter of fact, the best is yet to come”, is taken from Wilson’s book.
Talking about the Nike A’One line, Wilson shared in a statement:
"The A’One is meant to go the distance, taking control from the jump and dominating the floor on every play. From the beginning, we designed the shoe to both support my game and to provide young hoopers a tool to help them level up."
She added,
"The A’One aces that assignment, and we took the time to really get it right in order to deliver exactly what I need to push my performance and inspire the next generation to give it their all on every play."
The collection also features A’Symmetric tight, cropped hoodie, mesh shorts and tees, and an A’One Calm slide.
