What was there in the CES 2025 leak of Nintendo Switch 2?
The most recent leak came from CES 2025, where accessory maker Genki displayed a 3D-printed mockup of the Switch 2. Genki claims the mockup was based on a black-market version of the console, which features precise dimensions. Among the rumored upgrades are magnetic Joy-Cons.
The Nintendo Switch 2 controllers reportedly attach magnetically. It replaces the sliding rails of the original Switch. A release button near the triggers facilitates the detachment. Speculation has it that the second edition is also larger. It is said to be closer in size to the Steam Deck, which still fits into the original Switch dock.
Additional ports and buttons like a second USB-C port and a “C” button have sparked curiosity. However, their functions remain unclear. Genki also demonstrated an animation showcasing the Nintendo Switch 2’s accessories, including a sturdier kickstand, a feature that addresses one of the common criticisms of the original console.
Among all the speculations, Nintendo has confirmed one feature that fans have welcomed: backward compatibility. This means players can enjoy their current library of Switch games on the new console, reducing the need for a completely new game collection.
