With Christmas gone by, we are less than a week away from New Year's Eve and the New Year. Bearing that in mind, one of the most important questions haunting everybody's minds is what services will be open on New Year's Eve. While the period between Christmas and New Year's is usually not seen as a very productive time, people sometimes tend to have some necessary things they have to do - including some bank work.
This naturally calls for the question of whether banks remain open on New Year's Eve. Naturally, the confusion arises since the day is not officially a federal holiday, but is usually combined with the New Year's holiday.
To clear the confusion - As per USA Today banks will remain open on New Year's Eve. Branches of Capital One, Bank of America, PNC, Truist, CitiBank, and others will be open on December 31, as confirmed by the companies to USA TODAY. PNC stated that their branches will close at 4 p.m. local time on New Year's Eve, while all other banks will operate during regular hours.

Banks will remain open with certain restrictions on New Year's Eve
New Year's Day is on Wednesday this year and is a federal and state holiday. New Year's Eve, however, is not a federal holiday, so there is general confusion about what is operational and not on the last day of the year. Although banks will remain open, to avoid any inconvenience, it's recommended to verify the holiday hours of your local branch before visiting.
With respect to banks, most banks are usually open on New Year's Eve, since it is not an official state holiday. However, they may work at adjusted hours to allow employees to go home and spend time with their families earlier.
So, it is important to check with your bank prior to stepping out to confirm whether they are operational at all on New Year's Eve, and if they are, then what are their hours on the day? However, it is also advisable to schedule all bank work before 30th December or after 2nd January to avoid any form of confusion.
