Some batches of MadeGood granola bars have been recalled due to a potential safety issue. Chicago-based Riverside Natural Foods Inc., the parent company of MadeGood, voluntarily issued the recall after the FDA reports of possible metal contamination in some granola bar varieties.

As a precautionary measure, Riverside Natural Foods announced the recall on December 9, 2024. It reported the discovery of a small brush bristle in some products of the company. According to them, only seven complaints have been received out of hundreds of millions of bars sold, and no injuries have been reported so far.

The popular snack brand is known for its organic and allergy-friendly products. Now, the recall of certain batches is creating concerns among consumers, as the bars were sold across the nation.

Recall of MadeGood granola bars explained

The recall covers eight flavors, including Mixed Berry, Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Drizzled Cookie Crumble, Strawberry, Cookies & Crème, Chocolate Banana, Chocolate Drizzled Birthday Cake, and Chocolate Drizzled Vanilla.

These bars were produced between January and November 2024 and distributed across the United States, Canada, and other international markets.

Riverside Natural Foods responded to the report, saying that consumer health and safety remain their top priority. After conducting an investigation, the company identified the source of the issue. It was within its manufacturing process and implemented changes to eliminate the same risks in the future.

Consumers are advised to check the product details on MadeGood’s website to confirm if they own any such affected items. Those who have purchased the recalled bars can return them to the store.
