Supermarket chain, Aldi, has announced a recall of frozen taquitos from its shelves. This announcement came on January 13, 2025, after the supermarket chain published a press release on its official website.
The recall was voluntary on the grocery store’s part but came in association with Bestway Sandwiches, Inc. whose frozen chicken and cheese taquito products have already been recalled by the Food Service and Inspection Service of the US Department of Agriculture on January 11, 2025. According to the statement:
“ALDI puts the safety and integrity of the products it sells first. If customers have products affected by this recall, they are advised to discard it immediately or return it to their local store for a full refund.”

This product comes with an expiry date of July 3, 2025, and September 25, 2025.

Aldi has also extended its apologies for the inconvenience caused to the customers due to the recall.
More about Aldi’s frozen taquitos recall
The food item was sent to selected Aldi stores across the nation. As mentioned, the withdrawal of the food item was first called by Bestway Sandwiches, Inc. The FSIS announcement mentioned that 24,870 pounds of frozen food items were expectedly contaminated with metal.
The recalled "Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos" have a production date of July 3, 2024, and September 25, 2024. According to FSIS, customers can also identify the package with its establishment number EST. P-40327 on the packages. According to FSIS’ press release:
“The problem was discovered after the firm notified FSIS that it received a consumer complaint reporting that a piece of metal was found in the frozen chicken and cheese taquito product. Another consumer reported to FSIS to have a dental injury from the product.”
However, no further reports of illness or injury were reported. Despite that, customers who might have consumed the product must get checked out by a medical professional. They can check the images of the labels from fsis.usda.gov.
If customers still have the products in their freezers, they are advised not to eat them. Instead, they can throw them away or return them to the store where they bought them. For any queries, one can contact the Bestway Foods Co. QA Department at (818) 361-1800 EXT.110.
