McDonald’s has constantly amazed us with its collaborations, but this time, they have a special something for gamers. On December 12, 2024, the reality game Pokemon Go announced its partnership with the Golden Arches to allow restaurant outlets to turn into "PokeStops".
However, it must be noted that only McDonald's restaurants throughout the United States will be changed to PokeStops. Due to this collaboration, players or trainers will be able to visit the sponsored PokeStops or gyms when they visit the restaurants. They can only visit the US McDonald’s locations during certain weeks to participate in the five-star raids at the McD gyms.
For those unaware, gyms are the locations across the Pokemon Go world where one can fight the Pokemon of the opposing team. Trainers should be aware that the lure modules and the raid battles will function from 6 PM to 7 PM local time during the following weeks:
- December 16 to 22, 2024
- January 20 to 26, 2025
- February 10 to 16, 2025
- March 10 to 16, 2025
This will be the perfect time to try out some of the newly launched meals at the restaurant and play the game at the nearest US McDonald's restaurant. However, the gaming website has advised players to follow guidelines the local health authorities have laid down while playing Pokemon Go.
With the year coming to a close, there are still a few Pokemon Go adventures left. Throughout Dual Destiny, the Dynamax Pokemons that may appear in Max Battles are Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Krabby, and Skwovet.
Here’s what McDonald’s Marketing Director said about the collab
On December 12, 2024, the Marketing Director of the restaurant chain, Guillaume Huin shared the news of the collaboration on his X handle. He wrote that the collaboration is live and will allow every US McDonald's restaurant to turn into a PokeStop or Gym.
In addition, he mentioned that trainers can get more information about the partnership between the food chain and the gaming app by reaching out to the person in charge of the account. The number is +1 (707) 932-4826. Guillaume Huin said,
“Pokemon and McDonald's have a long history of partnerships in the Happy Meal and we're excited to finally explore a new dimension of this formidable franchise by partnering with Pokémon GO. And maybe more soon.”
Fans on X also had a few interesting reactions to this collaboration. While some asked whether there would be a collab meal, others said they could claim to be at the gym while enjoying a meal at the Golden Arches.
“PokémonGO themed Meal please. Thanks,” an X user wrote.
“Is Nuggets free for the players?” a social media user asked.
“Yes now I can say I'm at the gym when I'm at McDonald's,” a person commented.
“Great ima have to beat the Gym leader before I can get my spicy nuggets,” a netizen remarked.
This latest collaboration adds localized incentives to the game, sparking mixed reactions.
