McDonald's is officially going to bring the famous McRib back to its stores. Introduced back in 1981, the menu item was discontinued and reintroduced many times throughout the years since. Due to low sales, the item was removed but soon became a cult favorite that brought it back periodically as a limited-time offering.
In 2022, they said goodbye to the McRib, but it quickly reappeared in 2023 for a short term.
As the holiday season is at its onset, the fast-food joint is bringing back McRib from December 3 onwards. The McRib is priced around $4.58, and customers can buy it from the website, app, or restaurants of McDonald's.
McDonald’s Brings a Saucy Surprise with a Whole Lotta McRib Sauce!
On November 20, the brand uploaded an Instagram post with the caption, "Sighting confirmed: McRib szn starts 12.3," announcing the return of the McRib in McDonald's outlets from December 3.
Before its launch announcement, the brand also posted a sneak peek of this barbecue sandwich on November 19, which became a big buzz and kept fans excited.
The McRib will come in the McDonald's for only a limited time. Besides the sandwich, the company will also introduce 'A Whole Lotta McRib Sauce' as part of the return, a half-gallon jug of sauce used to make McRib. The sauce, priced at $19.99, will only be available online from November 25 at 10 am ET.
Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s, also gave a statement on the same, saying:
"The McRib is more than a sandwich – it’s a part of culture, it’s a legend, it’s an event. McRib SZN is a holiday unto itself, so we wanted to embrace that spirit and give fans an even bigger way to celebrate this year with A Whole Lotta McRib Sauce." - Tariq Hassan
Sauce fans can use this sauce for dipping fries, burgers, or even pizzas. The brand is clearly on a mission to make the McRib season feel festive and fun.
Why is McDonald's McRib So Special?
The existence of the McRib is not constant and only appears for limited periods, thus creating excitement in fans. It is a BBQ boneless pork sandwich that contains tangy sauce and pickles, accompanied by onions, all served on a bun.
When it is around, it allows the consumer to take pleasure in eating something different from their everyday McDonald's meal.
