It is time for some good news for Fortnite gamers as Epic Games will fulfil your shooting spree. The online gaming company will launch the new 5v5 Tactical FPS Ballistic in early access on December 11, 2024. This new ballistic mode will ensure a first-person and round-based 5v5 competitive mode to the game.

According to the YouTube channel iFireMonkey, the new mode resembles Valorant in Counter-Strike. It will stay enabled in Fortnite as it is not like an LTM. Moreover, it will be available free of cost and will support both unranked and ranked modes. Ballistic will be launched with the Skyline 10 map and other gaming essentials.

Players must note that Fortnite’s new 5v5 Tactical FPS ballistic mode will be available across all platforms and regions where the game is supported except Russia and South Korea.

To get the best out of this new gaming experience, players are advised to be more strategic in terms of teamwork. Before the game begins, players would be divided into teams comprising attackers and defenders.

The attackers’ motive is to plant the Rift Point Device while the Defenders stop it. The bombs have to be planted within the A and B bomb site territories.

It is noteworthy that in the ballistic mode, every bit of health holds significance as there are no respawns. The rounds will end in situations when the Rift Point Device detonates or the team is annihilated.

However, once six rounds are completed, the teams interchange as the attackers become defenders and the defenders attackers. The game will end when any team wins seven rounds in total.

How does Fortnite’s new 5v5 Tactical FPS ballistic mode work?

Every player in Fortnite’s ballistic mode is given 800 credits which they can spend along with the Ranger Pistol. The right way to spend the credits reportedly ensures success in the Ballistic mode.

However, one can gain more credits by planting the Rift Point Device or eliminating players during the attacker round. Moreover, before the beginning of each round, players can spend credits to unlock weapons like Thunder Burst SMG, Reaper Sniper, Nemesis AR, and others.

Players get to keep two weapons, the primary one and the Ranger Pistol. Upon surviving for the next round, players can keep their shields, weapons, and other unused items in addition to using the enemy’s weapon.

At the beginning of every Fortnite match in the ballistic mode, players on either team would be able to purchase any of the five Flex gadgets that they would be able to use. These Flex gadgets include:

  • Proximity Mine
  • Bubble Shield
  • Recon Grenade
  • Frag Grenade
  • Impulse Grenade

The Rift Point device explodes 45 seconds after it is planted. However, if it is defended successfully, players have to keep a certain distance from it to prevent being eliminated due to the device’s blast radius. In case the blast eliminates a player, their gears get lost.

There are two modes within Fortnite's 5v5 Tactical FPS Ballistic mode: unranked and ranked. The unranked play gives players a more casual experience if they want to simply have fun or just try the mode. Contrary to this, the ranked play allows players to try their talents within a competitive environment.

The winning team will gain a rank while the losing team will lose one. However, the rank adjustments for players depend on factors such as current rank, rounds won or lost, eliminations, and assists, with AFK or leaving players facing extra rank penalties. The first match of the day is protected from rank loss.
