What was the recipe tweak in Chick-fil-A waffle fries?

Earlier this year, the fast food chain slightly adjusted its waffle fries recipe. According to the company, the new recipe helps the fries stay crispier for longer.

This was supposed to make them more suitable for delivery and on-the-go consumption. The key change was a coating made with pea starch. While the company claims this alteration does not compromise the fries' taste, many fans disagree.

After the change, comments carrying criticism from fans were seen on Chick-fil-A’s social media pages. A week ago, the company took to its Instagram handle to announce the following:

Despite being a post related to a different matter, netizens chose this post to voice their concerns regarding the new recipe for their formerly beloved waffle fries. A fan commented:

"Hi- we want the old fries back 😢"

Other fans also weighed in to pour their disappointment on the post's comment section. Below are what some of them had to share:

"Your new fries are terrible. I can’t even eat them anymore and they were my favorite thing. Please go back!", declared a netizen.

"You were our ONLY safe fast food place for our family members with food allergies. We found out the hard way that you changed your fries formula. I was wondering why my son suddenly had hives after eating CFA, which is something we do quite often. What a shame we wont be going there anymore.", noted another.
