Nike released the Air Jordan 5 "Reimagined" retro sneakers across the stores on February 8, 2025, and fans could not contain their excitement. Social media platforms and YouTube are inundated with videos of long queues outside the stores. As seen in a video posted by X account “KicksFinder,” a huge crowd waited outside a store named “city G.E.A.R.”

The videos and photos by the X account were captioned:

“The HYPE is real for the Air Jordan 5 Retro "Reimagined" Are Jordans back?”

Social media users were amazed to see the crowd, while others said the hype was unnecessary. One X user commented:

“Waste of time when easily could get multiples online.”

Social media users joked about people waiting outside Nike stores to get the shoes.

“Damn people still standing in line for shoes in 2025,” a social media user wrote.
“Yall doing too much for some shoes,” a netizen mocked.
“its tax season? you must have forgot just wait till may when the money runs out lmfaooo,” a person joked on X.

Netizens noted that they were unwilling to stand outside stores when they could buy Nike’s Air Jordan 5 “Reimagined" online.

“It was like that in my city. I got there an hour early and was #14 in line and they had plenty of pairs, even found the Diamond Turfs! I have to go to the stores more often!” an online user shared.
“Picked up 4 pairs fcfs in 30 mins and dipped, all size 12,” another X user mentioned.
“Love sneakers but I’m not standing in any line for em. Days is over,” a person noted.
“I passed on these but I do see the hype around them. Sh*t might be back alive,” a netizen remarked.

More about the Nike Air Jordan 5 “Reimagined”

According to the YouTube channel DNA Show, the Air Jordan 5 “Black Metallic” was a classic when it debuted in 1990. Over the years, multiple re-releases have sparked excitement among sneaker fans.

The latest release is part of the brand’s “Reimagined” series, featuring a black nubuck upper that preserves its classic appeal. White details highlight the “Nike Air” branding on the heel, while metallic silver enhances the 3M reflective tongues and shark teeth design, accented with black speckles on the midsole. The YouTuber said:

“Honestly, the materials feel a lot better than I was expecting, definitely a little bit different than the previous retro and overall compared to the images and selling the shoe in hand, lining throughout the different areas of the shoe, it doesn’t pop too much.”

The bottom has an icy blue translucent outsole on the back and front end. Coming to the midsole, there is an encapsulated air unit set within a black shade. The upper portion is covered in a full synthetic with a 3M piping around every single cut and edge of the shoe.

The Nike Air Jordan 5 “Reimagined” has a translucent net with a black mesh. It has a 3M tongue which is similar to the original shoe. There is a full red sock liner with a Nike Air branding.
