The iconic Magnolia Bakery, famous for its desserts, especially its cupcakes and banana pudding gained popularity after featuring in the popular movie Sex and the City. Now, Magnolia Bakery can be seen offering their famous Banana Pudding Wafer Cookie Bits on United Airlines Flights nationwide.
However, the dessert served on the flight is not the same as the original. The in-flight dessert is frozen and contains whipped bananas with bits of wafer cookies. Whereas, the original uses fresh bananas and vanilla pudding.
30,000 feet above ground level with a dessert: Magnolia Bakery serves Banana Pudding on United Airlines Flight
The bakery's signature treat being served on the flight has grabbed considerable attention online. However, the dessert will be served to passengers on a flight longer than 901 miles and traveling in first class.
While not a common occurrence, Shake Shack will also serve their classic cheeseburgers on Delta Airlines flights traveling from Boston from 2025. However, this is the first time Magnolia Bakery desserts will be served on a commercial flight.
Bobbie Lloyd, CEO and chief baking officer, expressed her excitement about the partnership and explained how their team took three years to develop the new banana pudding recipe.
“As an avid traveller and baker, I know what an important role food can play in your travels, which is why I’m so excited to bring this new, innovative product to thousands of adventurers each year.”
Chief Commercial Officer Eddie Revis also expressed his joy at this new development and said,
“Over the past few years, we’ve worked to bring the best of Magnolia Bakery to customers across the country in new, unique ways. Today’s announcement marks one of our most exciting product launches to date — bringing banana pudding to new heights onboard United. This is the first stop of many to bring Magnolia Bakery to new places in new ways.”
Additionally, United Airlines' Director of Hospitality Programs, Aaron McMillan in a statement said,
“The only thing more iconic than Magnolia Bakery’s Banana Pudding is enjoying that pudding at 30,000 feet in United First – we know our customers are going to love it."
Reportedly, this move is to switch Magnolia from being a New York-only bakery to an "eat anywhere" bakery. It already has 30 bakeries internationally, and with this partnership, the bakery looks set to change dining options further.
