How surreal would it be to imagine a collaboration between McDonald’s and Dragon Ball Daima? Though some might be surprised, this is no longer a distant dream as McDonald's Hong Kong has announced its collaboration with the media franchise to introduce combo meals that include fries, shakes, a katsu-style cutlet sandwich, and fried dough balls.
Of all these items, the most eye-catching one is the Chicken Katsu Burger which is available for HK$39 (approximately 5 USD), discounted from HK$45 (approximately 6 USD). Foodies who grew up watching the television series will become nostalgic after they try the purple sweet potato balls because they resemble the seven dragon balls from the show. The item is priced at HK$9.
What one will find interesting is the anime character, Namekian Piccolo, will feature on McDonald’s white grape yogurt flavored soda with a fruit cocktail. The news of the collaboration has made fans and foodies go into a frenzy with one X user writing,
“Dragon Ball-themed McDonald’s food? That’s a power level over 9000 for fast food!”
Netizens showed excitement as many wanted the items to be available in the US outlets.
“F*ck man I wanted to eat some Dragon Balls and drink some Piccolo,” a social media user wrote.
“@McDonalds please i want gokus balls in my throat please bring to America,” a social media user reacted.
“put the dragon ball's in my mf mouuufffff,” a netizen remarked.
Others pointed out that the items would be available for a limited time.
“Only in Japan. Probably for a limited release. We will be lucky to this happen in the US. Looks great though,” a person commented.
“Yah could I hav 1 order of Balls and some of Piccolo's juice?? Thx” another X user mentioned.
“Mark my words, Piccolo Soda will be the next Grimace Shake,” an online user opined.
