Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Converse have unveiled their new signature shoe logo. The new range of sneakers by the Canadian basketball star will be launched in 2025.

The news follows Shai’s appointment as the new Creative Director of Converse in April this year. Taking to Instagram, Converse shared a clip featuring the brand-new logo. The brand captioned the post, “The next phase from @shai and Converse. More 2 come.”

Fans have been gushing all over social media ahead of the arrival of Shai’s signature shoes. Expressing their excitement they took to the comments section.

The logo is displayed on billboards across Canada. In the last three seasons, Alexander has evolved into one of the NBA's crucial players.


The thought process behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s signature logo

Shai Alexander has been a notable figure for Converse since he signed the endorsement deal in 2020. He became the face of the new Converse, Weapon. According to Complex, Weapon is a classic basketball sneaker made famous by Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. It was made in a spectrum of slightly varying designs at its genesis in 1986.

“It’s crazy—they were the pioneers to the whole signature sneaker business,” said Gilgeous-Alexander. “They were pioneers to basketball itself, the playing style we play today. They just have so much imprint on the game, on and off the court.”

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander drew the mark himself which reflects the budding star’s creativity. The logo features two stylized, mirrored number twos that symbolise his playing number and dual personalities on and off the court, according to a report in Footwear News.

As per Converse, “This duality is a hallmark of Shai's approach, as he effortlessly blends the worlds of sport and fashion to deliver something entirely novel, innovative, and aspirational.”

“The use of the number two also embodies the concept of equilibrium. For Shai, this means balancing the demands of professional basketball with the creative freedom of art and design. His logo serves as a potent symbol of this delicate harmony.” The report further added.

The animated logo shows it emerging from a vessel filled with metallic liquid that resembles the number 2 and his initials designed in calligraphy form. A small 'a' appears in the lower half, with a reflected 'G' contained in that same section and the overall shape forms an 'S'. The colour scheme reflects both Shai’s personality and Converse’s branding. The clip plays energetic music in the backdrop to gain traction from the viewers and make it more engaging.

Shai’s partnership with Converse has not only contributed in Converse’s resurgence in the competitive market but also inspired many young athletes who consider him as their role model.


In a statement released in April, Converse CEO Jared Carver confirmed that Converse will be rolling out the Gilgeous-Alexander signature line in 2025. ESPN Senior NBA insider, Shams Charania shared the news on X.

Fans are highly anticipating the new Shai’s signature shoe to drop next year.
