The anticipated Helldivers 2 x Killzone crossover between Helldivers 2 and Killzone was announced on December 18, 2024. The collaboration has been met with backlash from fans worldwide due to the high prices of the featured items.
For many, the cost of these in-game cosmetics is unreasonable, especially given that Helldivers 2 is a paid game rather than free-to-play. The official X handle of the brand (@HelldiversAlerts), dropped the collaborative items and captioned the X post:
"Helldivers 2 x Killzone 2: New Items Now Available in the Superstore"
A gamer reacted to the post:
"Not paying $20 for cosmetics."
Other fans were also quick to share their disappointment over the prices of the new items. Below are what some of them had to remark:
"615 SC for a weapon, thats actually crazy greedy", declared a user.
"If I buy the game right now how fast would I need to grind for them or can I pay for them with real money outright?", asked another.
"This was originally supposed to be a warbond which leads me to believe this was Sony forcing Arrowhead's hand into doing this to capitalize on the new spike in players.", shared a fourth.
"Very cool but very pricey, damn", remarked a gamer.

The collection features:
- A Killzone-themed armor set
- The StA-52 Assault Rifle
- A cape and banner
- A player title
In Helldivers 2, in-game purchases are made using Super Credits (SC). The prices of the Killzone items are listed below:
- Armor set: 500 SC
- StA-52 Assault Rifle: 615 SC
- Cape: 310 SC

To buy all the items in this bundle, a player needs 1,975 SC. This amount roughly equals to $20. For comparison, this price is half the cost of the full game, which retails at $40.
CEO of Arrowhead Studios, Shams Jorjani, responded to the backlash on the game’s Discord server. Below is what he shared:

However, many gamers stand still on their argument that as a paid title, the brand does not have to rely on high-priced in-game purchases.
