The global gaming industry is buzzing as reports suggest that Nintendo Switch 2 is going to be launched in 2025. The successor to the beloved Nintendo Switch will reportedly feature exciting upgrades to maintain its hybrid gaming experience.

The Nintendo Switch was first launched in 2017. It quickly became popular for the hybrid concept, which allowed gamers to switch between docked mode for big-screen play and handheld mode for on-the-go gaming.

This versatility made the Switch a global success in the gaming market. To date, over 125 million units of the console has been sold.

What we know about the Nintendo Switch 2 so far

Nintendo is a beloved brand in the global gaming industry. From the NES in the 1980s to the portable Game Boy and the motion sensor-driven Wii, the brand has launched multiple fan-acclaimed products.

The Switch is also a significant part of this lineup. Now, with all the hype surrounding its successor, it is anticipated that the brand will live up to the expectations of fans.

Leaked details suggest that the successor will feature a larger 8-inch screen, up from the current model’s 7 inches. The Switch 2 might use an LCD screen in its standard version. Whereas, Switch 1 does have an OLED display variant.

The Joy-Cons are speculated to be notably redesigned. Instead of the current sliding mechanism, the new controllers may feature a magnetic attachment system. This update could simplify usage and address durability issues that some gamers have reported of earlier models.

The Switch 2 is expected to sport 12 GB of RAM. Its predecessor sported 4 GB of RAM. Additionally, it will reportedly get a more powerful processor. Internal storage may also see a jump to 256 GB.

One of the most exciting features of the Switch 2 is its rumored backward compatibility. With this, gamers will be able to use their existing Switch titles with the new console. Nintendo has maintained a trend of preserving access to older games. Speculation has it that the Switch 2 could launch in black and white models, with a possible special edition themed around Mario Kart.

The gaming brand is reportedly gearing up to launch the Nintendo Switch 2 with an attractive lineup of games. Mario Kart 10 is expected to be one of the flagship titles. Fans also anticipate a brand-new Mario game to accompany the console’s release, just as Super Mario Odyssey did for the first edition of the Switch.

Recent leaks on Reddit have provided glimpses of the console’s hardware. CAD models suggest refined port configurations. These leaks have sparked discussions on forums of gamers around the world.
