Nike will be releasing Air Max 1000 at ComplexCon. This ComplexCon exclusive sneaker is a reimagined version of Nike's acclaimed Air Max 1. The annual event is going to be held in Las Vegas on November 16 and 17, 2024. Fans can swing by the event for a closer look at the sneakers.
This brand new Air Max 1000 is crafted through advanced 3D printing in collaboration with the German tech company Zellerfeld. As the Nike press release says, it is a modern upgrade of Nike’s loved Air technology. Air DT Max ‘96 “Falcons”, scheduled to be released on November 15, 2024, also features this Air technology.
Nike’s choice of ComplexCon as the debut platform for the upgraded version of Air Max 1 is strategic. The event is known to be a common and global place for sneaker culture, art, and streetwear industry. Attendees at this year’s event can have an opportunity to win a pair of the Air Max 1000, which will be available exclusively at the event.
Looking into Air Max 1000
The Air Max line has been one of the central parts of Nike's roots in the footwear industry. The original Air Max 1 was designed by Tinker Hatfield, an American designer who had designed multiple athletic shoe models for Nike. Launched in 1987, it made waves with its visible Air cushioning technology at that time. The Air Max 1000 takes this original design and technology and features them in an upgraded version.
Nike’s Chief Innovation Officer John Hoke says that the Air Max 1000 is not just a shoe. Below is what he had to mention:
"As an innovator, what's most exciting to me about the Air Max 1000 are the new solutions we can achieve with next-level manufacturing. It's control, times precision, times expression — all of which are vital to sport and to design. When those variables of control, precision and expression are multiplied at once, the future of our product really does feel unlimited."
This latest iteration of Nike's Air Max line sports a refined silhouette that draws back reference to the very first edition of the line: Air Max 1. The upper of the Air Max 1000 is designed to create a lightweight and breathable surface. A small and carved Swoosh logo is featured subtly on the midfoot. The upper material is created through 3D printing. The shoe’s mudguard sports the wavy lines reminiscent of the original sneakers.
The heel sports a visible Air unit. Additionally, the outsole features designed carvings and other details.
Nike has also partnered with global icons like Travis Scott, Lil Yachty, and Kids of Immigrants to bring up sneakers that will be showcased at ComplexCon. Below is what Nike had to mention about these collaborations:
"Celebrating the launch of Scott’s new Nike Zoom Field Jaxx, the Cactus Colosseum features a trophy case full of the artist’s most coveted NIKE, Inc. collaborations, a soccer kit customization studio run by Nike’s Blue Ribbon Studios, a retail store with limited-edition merch and a street soccer pitch hosting scrimmages and skills challenges."
