Nike is reportedly set to relaunch the Nike KD 4 “Gold Medal” sneakers.

According to Sneaker Bar Detroit, the shoes are slated to hit shelves in the fall of 2025 with a retail price point of around $130. On release, fans can expect to find the pair on the official Nike website, the SNKRS app, and select Nike retailers.

Disclaimer: Details of the Nike KD 4 “Gold Medal” (2025) sneakers are only speculated and are not yet confirmed by the brand. They are subject to change.

Originally launched in 2012, this sneaker was crafted by the brand as a tribute to Kevin Durant’s Olympic performance at the London Summer Games, where he led Team USA to victory and set a U.S. Olympic scoring record.

The KD 4 “Gold Medal” sneakers were quick to become a favorite among basketball players and sneaker enthusiasts worldwide.

More than a decade later, Nike is reportedly reviving the sneaker for a new generation of fans. With its Metallic Gold upper, University Red Swooshes, Obsidian details, and signature midfoot strap, this re-release is expected to gain major attention from sneakerheads.

How might the Nike KD 4 “Gold Medal” sneakers (2025) look?

The 2025 re-release of the KD 4 “Gold Medal” retains multiple features of the original and brings back its signature elements, Sneaker Bar Detroit reports. Its colorway is labeled Metallic Gold/ University Red - Obsidian - White. Some of the shoe's reported key features include:

Upper

  • Metallic Gold upper: The standout feature of the sneaker is its gold upper. It gives a nod to Durant’s Olympic triumph. The Hyperfuse material has been added for breathability.
  • University Red accents: The bold Swoosh on the midfoot strap and inner lining allegedly feature a red tone.
  • Obsidian and White details: Obsidian blue is reportedly used on the midsole and tongue. The white branding adds a contrast against the gold.

Midfoot strap and fit

One of the most recognizable elements of the KD 4 silhouette is its midfoot strap. This feature is expected to give good stability.

Cushioning

  • Zoom Air cushioning: The KD 4 “Gold Medal” (2025) reportedly includes a forefoot Zoom Air unit for responsive bounce and comfort.
  • Phylon midsole with gold speckles: The midsole adds visual appeal with gold speckling that complements the upper.
  • Lightweight construction: Owing to the alleged Hyperfuse technology, the sneaker is expected to remain light and breathable.

Outsole

  • Semi-translucent rubber outsole
  • Multi-directional traction pattern: The outsole is believed to offer good traction on indoor courts.

Some sneaker enthusiasts expect Nike to tweak the cushioning system of the 2025 edition for better long-term wear. Also, retro models often receive small shape modifications, so the 2025 KD 4 “Gold Medal” might have a slightly different silhouette compared to the 2012 original.

However, if Nike follows the original release pattern, there’s a chance that sizing may be limited, making it harder for some sneakerheads to cop a pair.
